ahh, a 1.8t swap isn’t too bad. i hope you have da monies.

i hopefullly will by the time i need the motor lol ill let evry one know the diagnosis tomorra

:ponder steve u bum theres a VR6 jetta 98 or so in the westside car/junk yard. take the road next to heather smiths house and look on your right. if you miss it your an idoit.

can you tell me where this is? i could use a few things. much appreciated.

You do know a 1.8t swap is gonna run you like $6k easy

I’m not a VW guy at all, but it seems to me that the VR6 is a proven bullet proof better setup.

Why don’t you instead of reinventing the wheel just go with a proven setup, especially when it seems cheaper.

You can pick up a beat up Passat for dirt, replace all the important gaskets, pumps, and belts (chains) and be good to go.

wow 6k damn didnt think be that expensive looks like i might be goin the vr way

Vlad pretty much said it. VR6’s are a pretty straight forward swap and on the more economical side of things. 1.8t’s are definitely do-able but their pretty labor intensive as far as swapping into a MK II or MK III and are pricey.

I know someone who might be willing to part ways with one of his VR motors he has kicking around. I’ll see if he wants to unload it and i’ll shoot you a price if your interested.

ya deff lemme know prolly wont beable to pay for it for like a month im started a new job monday

a 1.8t swap is deff not 6k… where do you get that figure from?

Having it professionally done will run you close to $6k

Here’s a complete ready swap for $4k http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3614416

No 1.8t swaps go in easily into a MK III or MK II. Doesn’t the dash have to be re-wired to hook up to a MK II or MK III dash? That can’t be easy or cheap to do. All said and done to have a complete swap done it will be damn near close to that.

professionally yes, if you do it yourself… no. a vr swap would also cost about 3-4… it all depends on the miles, condition and all that shit. me, i would save up and swap a 1.8t.

Ok save the extra $2,000 trying to do it yourself I guess, but if you don’t know what your doing, it’ll set you even further back.

well i know what im doin ive change like 4 or 5 motors in diff types of cars my dad use to race and shit so ive had experience on how to do most of evrything, so i shouldnt have a HUGE problem and if i do i can ask for help

w3rd. i woulfn’t do it myself.

1.8t swaps are a PITA. I definitely wouldn’t tackle that one myself.

iight thanx guys ill figure it out b4 spring time so i can save up for either one of em hey one more question for ne one that knows bout v-dub rims and that i got 15 in rims on it now what would be a good tire size the tires on it now r rubbin (they came with it) i wanna get rid of em unless i can find some tires the american racin rims on a vw figure that out lol if ne one can help me lemme know
