94 MK3 Jetta VR6, OBD-1

Selling my 1994 Jetta w/ 5-Speed Manual, VR6 Swap, AS-IS, currently in a no-start condition. The 12V VR6 is from a 97 and has 89,000 miles, mileage on the body is unknown. It is an OBD-1 car so inspection is practically guaranteed. Car in located in Amherst, NY.

$1000 FIRM

I put it back on the road for 2 months earlier this October and it decided not to start one day. Might need a new starter or just a new battery. Don’t have the time to work on it anymore. Would be a great project/donor car or (an awesome) part-out opportunity for someone with the time.

The good:

  • Strong motor
  • OBD-1
  • CLEAN title
  • Low VR6 mileage (89k)
  • Heat works great
  • Koni yellow shocks
  • New OEM thermostat
  • New OEM water distribution pipe
  • New OEM shifter linkage
  • New OEM ignition switch
  • Fresh Oil/Filter Change
  • New front ball joints
  • New front brakes

The bad:

  • No start condition (as described above)
  • Radio disconnected
  • No A/C
  • Currently not inspected (expired in Dec)
  • 2 tires need replacing
  • Body 6/10

Willing to throw in a spare set of passat wheels with winter tires for $100.

Email: rmneuman@hotmail.com

Very tempting… what springs are in it?

You wanna sell me the passat wheels?

Check the power wire to the starter. Have you tried to pop the clutch to get it running?

Thanks for the extra pictures, Mike. The same spring set up that I bought from you is still in it. Unknown lowering springs in the front, stock (I believe) in the rear.

If the car sells and I still have the wheels, then I will absolutely be in contact with you.

Unfortunately I’m not interested in working on the car anymore. I have another ride and do not have the time. I DO appreciate your help though. Thank you.

Forgot to mention: CLEAN TITLE

Car + wheels $800

I’ve had a couple offers at 1000 in just a day. First one that shows up with the cash gets the car.

Forgot to mention it has an aftermarket header and full exhaust w/ cat, as well as 5lug conversion and disc brakes all around.

that’s damn clean, id try to start it just for fun for you if i was in walking distance

Sweet it still has the 2.0 Coil pack.

I also replaced the alternator and battery while i owned it. just before smokeyV

You give the body a 6/10 rating but I can’t find much evidence to justify that. Besides the chips up front that have a little rust forming, is there much more rust on the body/underside?

my pictures are older, there is some of the normal MK3 rot near the trunk, rear quarters lower front fenders.
But strut towers where perfect.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification.

Still available?

Haha the 2.0 coil pack is actually gone now. I took it off when I was cleaning up the motor earlier this fall. Thanks for the info on the alternator/battery.

All the attributes Mike stated are true. The drivers fender was also bumped at one point and has a dent.

Yes, I am free for people to come see it between 12 and 4PM Tuesday (tomorrow).

Looks like a nice car for the price. glws

Thanks.

Also, forgot to mention this is a MANUAL transmission vehicle.

I am around for the next few hours. If anyone would like to stop by, please send me a PM.

Still available. I’ll be around tomorrow during the day if anyone would like to check out the car.

Interested in trades?

Not particularly. Feel free to shoot me a PM though. It would have to be a running vehicle, I have no more room for projects.
