anyone ever replace one? my brothers car died because the belt broke and its in a friends driveway right now. i have the belt but not sure how it goes on. anyone have any info or skill that could show me the way it goes would be great its a 2.0
it’s usually can’t go on too many ways. Look at the pulleys that don’t have a belt and it should be apparent.
If the pulley has a groove or rib, that goes to the inside of the belt, if it’s totally smooth, that’s usually an idler or pulley that rides on the back of the belt.
Chances are the alt belt also drives the waterpump.
The adjustment/tension probably comes from a bolt that swings the alternator.
If this is a serpentine belt, then usually the routing is a bit tougher to figure out.
there’s usually a sticker under the hood with a diagram
fixed. in a drive way with no jack in the snow FML! had to remove the power steering belt to install new alt belt. it was not fun or easy
