nice kill swarz… id like to line up with you some time

:naughty:

cheers mang!

newbie post please sir!

sounds like we can line up some races here

LOL

Me and Cobretti have raced a few times.

Short story: Me and Cobretti have raced five times. Four times I raced him on the spray and beat him, once I raced him with no nitrous and he won. This was before his nitrous, turboback exhaust, and UTEC, so he should be alot faster now and I’ll probably take a loss.

LONG Story:

So my buddy recently bought a 2005 Suburu WRX STI. Great car- six speed transmission, AWD, 300hp- car pulls hard, handles excellently, and looks great.

Most people know that I have a 1995 5.0L Mustang GT, with gears, exhaust, bolt-ons and nitrous. I used to run a 75 shot, now I usually run a 100 shot on the street and a 125 shot at the track. The motor is totally stock from the oil pan to the throttle body, with stock injectors as well.

After my buddy got the STI, he of course wanted to race me. I figured I’d lose- I rode in his car a few times, and it really felt faster than mine. I was expecting an ass kicking, from a stop or from a roll. I figured he just had more in his car.

So after a few weeks of him trying to convice me to run, and me not wanting to get smoked, I agreed to race one weeknight. I talked him into racing from a roll, figuring I’d use any advantage I could. I was on a 75 shot at the time. We headed out to a local highway, lined up side by side at about 30mph, and hit it. Much to my suprise, I pulled away right off the start and kept on pullin’. When I shut it down at about 100 I had an easy three car lenghts on him.

He claimed he started in the wrong gear and wanted an immediate rematch, so we lined up again. This time we lined up at 20mph, and he signalled that his turbo was spooled and he was ready to go. We hit it again, and again I pulled hard right off the bat. This time, I grabbed a car lenght lead and held onto it. As my AODE shifted into second he made up a foot or two, but I pulled away more through second gear. Throughout third I maintained a car lenght lead, and that’s how it finished at 120mph.

We were both pretty suprised that I beat him, and decided to take it to the track to run them in a real drag race. I figured it’d be much worse for me, as I’d have to overcome his AWD advantage.

First time at the track, I was on a 100 shot. Nervous as hell, I forgot to arm my nitrous system until halfway down the track. The STI driver, just as nervous, didn’t understand the Christmas tree and had a 1.2-something reaction time. I beat him with a 13.9 to his 14.3 first time out.

After I raced a truck and an 11 second fox body 5.0, running a best that day of 13.34, the STI and I lined up again. This time I was spraying a 125 shot.

When the light went green, I launched on the nitrous and spun up my tires pretty bad. The STI hooked and took the early lead, with a 1.8 second 60 foot time compared to my 2.2. By the time my times hooked up, he was at least 4 car in front of me- but as soon as I had traction, it was catch up time. By the 1/8 mile, I had made up over half the distance and was catching up quickly. Halfway between the 1/8 and 1/4 mile lines I cruised past him and kept pulling away. I just outpowered him. By the end of the race, I had a solid 3-4 car lenght lead and ended up running a 13.4 to his 13.9. While I was pleased to beat the STI AGAIN, I was dissapointed, as both this and my 13.3 second runs SHOULD have been 12 second runs if I would have driven better (1.8 60’ would’ve netted a 12.9-13.0 on the last run, for example).

Finally, the STI owner conviced my to race him off the nitrous. I knew I was gonna take a loss here. We lined up at 30mph on the highway. He pulled away immediately and I never had a chance- by 100mph, he had at least 3 car lenghts on me.

Oh well, 4/5 ain’t bad.

Cobretti has since installed a NOS Ntercooler kit, UTEC, turboback exhaust, and CAI. I haven’t changed anything yet, but have a Cobra intake manifold, 65mm throttle body, and 1.7 RRs waiting to go on, after I get my AODE fixed.

wow. you really  typing.

I copy-pasted it from another site where I’d posted it a couple of months ago.

so much for me sleepin my sti swarz… thanks

Uh…sorry?

how are sti’s sleepers? wtf… they are the performance model???

a 2.5rs swapped with an sti motor is a sleeper.

at least theres a short and long version

aye… but it looks pretty stock atm…
i think there is a difference between mine an a stock…

plus youd be suprised how few people know what sti is or it looks like… people think im just some idiot that put a huge wing and scoop on a 4 door sedan.

point of a sleeper is to trick the people that matter (other people racing that obviously know what a sti is)… i hope you aren’t one of those kids that races my dad in his f-150 waiting at a green light

yup… you pulled my card. i cant wait till my dad finishes paying off my car and i can carry the title in my wallet.

haha… don’t get defensive… i just find it hard to believe that someone will willingly line up with you at a red light and have no idea what an sti is! that’s all…

anyway… don’t need the title… just ask your pops to let you sign the owners card… chicks dig that too.

at PRP [and swarz and my videos can defend this] i have been announced as a: Neon, a Civic, and a mazda i think it was…

i raced a guy in a 2002 camaro SS from a roll a few times in suburbia [he took me 3 for 3 all from a roll when i was stock]… when we pulled over at a sunco to BS he said he had never even heard of a subaru w/ a turbo.

i got into an argument w/ an employee at advanced autoparts about the make/model of my car… he told me i was confused and that it was a subaru SXT…

trust me, there are lots of people that line up with me that have no idea what they are getting into…

pops said i cant get the owners card cause he likes to rock it at the watercooler… helps him shag the secretaries… go figure, same reason i wanted it.

you’re argument for people being ignorant about imports consists of the douche at PRP and a camero owner

i also drive an audi, an ‘aircooled’ and a ‘bug’ according to the dick at PRP… idiotic people are everywhere… i was talking about people like us… that know a thing or two.

agree’d problem is… most of the people out and abouts my way atleast are more like the prior then the latter…

guess im ‘wookin per waces in all da wong pwaces’ ~buckwheat

whats the back of the STI look like:kekegay:

FYI…if it was indeed the latest M3 model, it could not of been an automatic…they are only available with a traditional 6 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed Sequential Manual Gearbox. BMW only put some autos in the 2nd generation U.S. model (95-99)…which wasn’t really a true ///M car.

As for the race…either the M3 driver didn’t drive well or your car is faster than you think…The latest generation M3s typically run 13.0-13.3 in the quarter on street tires…and they usually trap in the 105-107 range. The fastest stock M3 I’ve seen in the quarter is 12.72 (w/street tires) but that was with an incredible driver and prime track/weather conditions.

It was definitely the latest model M3. If I remember correctly, the earlier M3s had pretty noticeable ground effects on them. This one looked pretty much like this:

I figured it was an automatic because of the way I heard it shifting.

My car’s best trap speed was 105.9. My best ET was 13.34. I guess we’re a pretty even match.
