can you bypass the a/c for temp fix?

if not, any suggestions on where to find a decent priced compressor?

Im tryin to help a customer cut a 1000 bill…

Car will stall? I am sure the customer is not trying to get cold air now…

If the compressor is locked up, just unplug the wires going into it.
Then it will freewheel like a pulley.

does not stall. noticed it squeeling while running errands at the mall…took it to sears and they told him a new compressor. I quoted him here but of course its not a cheap job.

Hes not looking to have it fixed right away, but will eventually, just looking to maybe do a quick fix so he doent blow a belt or the compressor seizes up. Someone told him to bypass the belt, but from what I understand there is no bypass belt.

pull the fuse/circuit breaker for the a/c compressor, probably only squeals if the defroster is on correct?

Did they even verify if the belt itself squeals, or if it’s definately the compressor? I’d check the obvious things like belt tension and condition, and the idler puller if it has one.

yeah i thought about that too. We didnt look at the car, so I guess Im diagnosing it before we look at.

Just need some options to tell this guy.

Thank you for your help…

So the guy took his car to an a/c tech to get further info and it ended up just being a torn up belt…LOLOLLOLOLO sears is dumb.

Anyways, prob solved. Thank you for all your imput!!!
