A fully loaded Accord is a good deal.

 everyone is on the “FTW” kick

honda does have a better resale then most. Thats why I personally like the used car plan

Used you can get a lot of low end japanese cars(mitsu, nissan, mazda) and domestics really cheap

there is a reason they are cheap used, cause the lack the quality and reliability that the good cars(honda, toyota, bmw, mecedes) have

yeah, im not saying cheep used car only though  even on those cars you listed once you eliminate that first year of depreciation, you still can save a lot of money. I guess thats how i shop for cars now.

Example: my vette was 32k from the dealer when i bought it. It was going on 4 years old with 6000 miles on it. one year later when I sold it, I got 28k Private party for it with 19,000 miles on it.

chrysler 300C, hemi go, cylinder shutdown, great styling, e-class mechanicals. :gotme:

Grand prix. :poke:

Similar cars I priced out, loaded similarly (the way I’d buy it)

  • TL = $35,500
  • S60R = $46,070
  • Accord V6 6MT = $29.850
  • 2.5GT = $29.764
  • STi = $33,620
  • MS6 = $33,185
  • IS350 (RWD) = $39,300
  • IS250 (RWD, mt) = $34,044
I don’t like the 300C, too ghetto fabulous to me. The Caddy would be great in the V variant, but it’s twice as much then. I hope the Grand Prix was a joke.

If I went used, which is a possibility, I probably wouldn’t spend nearly as much. Lots of different factors, going new (and Honda) affords me the ability to be more flexibile in regards to the sale time of my car. Plus, getting something that has stronger resale value takes the bite out of a new car as well.

Hrm, out of all those choices

I’d personally choose the STi.

and then secondly go with the accord

let us know what you get

ACTUALLY the Legacy GT is pretty. Get that. That would be my choice.

Oooo I forgot about the 2.5GT…

Is the s60r just a “ah, what the hell I might as well price it out” option or are you actually considering getting one?

Id get that. With the 6 speed.

I’d probalby not get the STi, I just don’t like it as a DD, driven them a few times and can’t get over the econo box of it all, even though it’s fast as balls.

I am considering a S60R.

please note that the x-type is rides on a ford mondeo chassis. and as pretty as it may be, it certainly isn’t the blockbuster ford/jaguar was hoping for.

its funny that the cars people are choosing happen to be true entry level luxury cars (ie A4, G35, XType). What about the true intended comparables? How come no one chose the Malibu, or the 500, or the Sebring? What about the Fusion? I bet its hard to debate the value of the Accord when you actually compare it to SIMILAR cars.

For the curious

A4 3.2 - $38,760

Hardly comparable when you are talking about new cars in line w/ the Accord.

magnum

I really doubt he is looking for a hidious domestic

but if you are looking for something cheesy get the magnum

how is the magnum cheesy? I think it’s one of the more origional cars to come out lately.

I guess some people just like cookie cutter cars

I actually test drove a 3.0 x-type sport the other day for my mother. Seemed like a pretty nice car. I’m not gonna say it’s a show stopper, but rides really nice. The inside is really comfortable and the aesthetics overall are very nice and better then the accord IMO. I think its a good car for the money and a great entry level jag.

Also I mentioned the fusion/montego, the grandprix and camry. All of those are in the same class. The other cars were just options for the ball park price. Personally, if i am comparing an economy car to a entry level luxury car and they are close on price, I would find myself asking why I would pay that much for the economy car?

again, its really going to depend on the buyers prefrences.

I, honestly, like the 500  I’d take one over an accord if the price was right  (better looking imo)

see, i would take the accord over the 500, however I could see why someone would want the 500.
