A little impulse buy :-) (and an interesting first ride story)

Yesterday I called on a 2008 CBR 1000rr at a dealer in Tucson, I put a deposit down on it but I realized the insurance was ~400 more a year for the litre bike, and I wasn’t too fond of the yellow paint…
The salesman I was speaking to informed me of a disgusting deal on a left over '09 Kawi ZX6R black on black. I told him it was sold and would be there the next morning to pick it up.

The following has to be the worst 7 hours of my life. It’s approx 250 miles from Tucson to Yuma, I had my friend drop me at the dealer so I could ride home. I figure i’d be ok in just a sweatshirt for the ride… well about an hour in, I miss the exit for I-8 because I’m too busy playing with the stop watch on the dash, and realize when I got to Phoenix that I was going the wrong way, YES, drove an hour out of my way for nothing, and I’m freezing already because it’s around 50 degrees.
As soon as I turn around and head back to I-8 it starts down pouring (it rains 3 times a year in southern AZ, and today was one of the days) and when I say down pouring, I mean monsoon type shit. Great.
I ride for about an hour until I start losing it, I’m so friggen cold that I feel as if I’m about to black out, so I pull into a gas station and when i get off my bike I fall to my knees because my legs are completely numb (some how I could still shift though?)
I manage to hobble into this gas station and tell the clerk I need to sit here and wait out the rain… 3 cups of coffee later and I leave, I sat in the gas station for 2 hours because I literally could not stop shaking. I ride for about another hour and finally get home. Total trip: 325 miles. 3/4s of them in the pouring rain.
I can honestly say that I’ve never been that cold in my entire life and I’ve been in some COLD ass weather.

Either way, fun first day with the bike, heres a shitty cell pic of it, future mods include: rear fender eliminator kit, Akrapovic slip on, black wind screen and maybe some track days

nice bike, dude. i’ve been caught in cold raid before, it sucks a biiiig D.

nice bike.

Let me get this straight, you were mad that a litre bike that is a 2008 was 400 more dollars a year insurance wise? You realize that would be only 33 dollars more a month then you currently were going to spend which made you ditch the bike completely? I understand that color not being in your taste, but a 2008 1k bike compared to a 2009 600 is two totally different bikes so what made you go from a 1k to a 600, $400?

ya on my zx7r, I had a girlfriend in Cortland ny, rode out there spent the weekend, planed to leave Sunday night. but she asked me to stay to Monday. Monday night i had to work. i stayed it was awesome Sunday night. should have left. Monday POURED. I rode from Cortland too buffalo in pouring rain. everything I had packed was soaked I had leathers on and they weighed a ton.

but looks like an awesome bike

He got a great deal on the 600, he didn’t just buy it because of insurance.

awesome story

Nice pickup!

LOL, that would be awesome around here right now

exactly… my… thoughts…

LOL.

nice bike <3 kawi.

EDIT: hows she wheelie? hows she feel compared to the 600rr?

Nah, those were just two factors which made me change my mind. the 1000 was $1000 more, a year older, an ugly color (sorry Geoff), and an 08 (which I really wanted ABS on the '09s)
Plus, I really wanted an all black bike, they had 2 ZX10s there too on the cheap, but they were that ugly blue color, MEH.
And as far as the power goes, a 600 is plenty quick for me, it will still do 160+ and is mad fun in the corners.

The Honda was a tid bit quicker, could be from the full exhaust and power commander though…which will be on this bike soon

<3

how much out the door if you don’t mind me asking? i love that bike.

That is a sexy bike my man. Good pick up

Nice p/u.

hows she WHEEELIE!!!

didnt you read my entire post? I understood a better deal on the 600 but to go from being set on a 1000cc bike, to a 600cc bike is a big choice.

Crazy ting when reading this I imagined the whole thing in my head. That must have sucked balls but was funny thinking about it.

Where do you live/ My buddy Bizub lives in AZ.
