Acura Integra faulty ICU?

In late December my fiancee’s 98 Integra lost functioning of the intermittent wiper setting, rear defrost, dome light, and key-in-ignition/lights on warning beeper. Fuses all checked out ok. After doing some searching on other forums, I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be a faulty ICU. I’m just looking to see if any of the Honda gurus on here can confirm this or point me in the right direction. I know ICU issues were common on DA Integras but couldn’t find any DC Integras with this issue.

I also found some cases where a malfunctioning power antenna would cause these issues. Her antenna had been stuck up since she bought it over a year ago. You could hear the motor turning but the antenna would never go down. Well I looked into this and discovered that the motor was no longer working. So I’m not sure if that also fell victim to this issue or what. Anyways, I have since disconnected the motor but that did not solve the problem.

Before I go buying another ICU, I just wanted to see if anyone could confirm this or have other things to try. Thanks in advance!

plenty of honda people on here, borrow a spare one, takes like 5 minutes to swap it in to tell if thats the problem.

Yeah, I actually have been meaning to meet up with someone just have been really busy. Plus most guys that I do know on here are in Buffalo and I’m out in Syracuse.

It’s not the ecu. Double check fuses. Even under hood fuses (which may not seem possible, but it is).

I’m not talking about the ECU. I believe there’s a difference unless I’m mistaken. From what I’ve searched it’s a piece that clips into the back side of the interior fuse box. Maybe I’m wrong though. I’ll have to double check the under hood fuses.

well, it sounds like you’ve done your research and diagnosed your problem really. I’d just go ahead and get another ICU and give it a shot. What are you going to waste if that’s not it? like 20 bucks maybe used I would imagine.

i am having same issue, from what i had research on internet, they had not mention that icu can cause dome lights not working…so could you please let me know did you fix everything simply replace the icu? thanks

The problem basically fixed itself. Once the weather warmed up, everything was functioning as it should. This really leads me to believe that it was the ICU. Everything I came across in researching the faulty ICU problems said that moisture getting in was the problem. Since it’s located right behind the interior fuse box, when the winter came there was constantly a source of moisture since snow would get in the car and then melt. Like I said though, the first nice warm day we had, everything returned to normal. Later on the dome light went out again but it turned out to just be a blown fuse. I never ended up fiddling with the ICU at all or replacing it.

Has your car had a lot of moisture in it recently? Any leaks from when it rains or possibly left a window cracked during a rain that would allow the floor to get wet? I’m sorry I can’t offer any more help here since nature basically fixed my problem for now.
