Aftermarket Oil Temp Gauge?

How many people actually run one. I’m sure this sounds really stupid, but why bother running one of these if you already have an oil psi, water temp wideband and egt gauge? What problems can you diagnose from seeing a spike in the oil temp? I am guessing a failing pump or bearing but I don’t know- that’s why I am asking. Thanks for any help.

more gauges = better. DEFI only too.

The Civic rock an auto meter electric unit. Its good to keep an eye on. H2O temp and oil temp are not directly corelated. It helps me to see when VTEC is producing the most pOwAr!

if you’re not tracking the car ALOT its prolly not necessary.

I prefer as few gauges in my face as possible unless tuning, and even then :tif:

Datalog covers most diagnostic questions IMO.

^ That’s what I was thinking. I already have dsmlink so I can log an awful lot, I just was switching my gauges and was wondering if It would be worth adding one of these and why.

Im of the practice that guages (outside of fuel, tach, speedo, water *) are diagnostic tools -or- OH SHIT monitors. Oil TEMP doesn’t provide much in either of those capacities in most street/track cars.

Then again, you apparently have a DSM… i guess all the help you can get
