I have a 95 with the stock radio (CD and Tape Player). I’m upgrading to a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. I bought a harness adapter from future shop so I don’t have to cut up the factory harness and I’m having problems in two areas.
Does anyone know if there is a way for the pioneer deck to power on the antenna only in radio mode? I’m using the blue/white wire to power the factory amps.
I’m hearing static from the rear speakers when the radio is on even when muted. Do the factory amps have to be bypassed?
I’ve found a lot of information for S13 but very little on S14 can anyone help?
The blue/white wire is used for the power antenna, if you hook the remote wire for the amp(s) to the blue/white wire then they will only turn on when the radio is on. Run a fused (1 amp, 14 AWG) wire from a fuse in the fuse panel that only has power when the car is on to the REM (remote) connection on the amp… either that or buy a kenwood deck. They usually come with a separate wire for both. Some other companies do this too.
I suggest removing the factory amps, bashing repeatedly with a 32 oz. ball peen hammer and discarding in the nearest landfill. By pass or install aftermarket amp and the static radio noise should disappear.
somthing i never thought of before was cutting the on signal wire off one of the factory amps if you arent going to be using it. I just did today on my 240, i cut the amp control wire off the rear amp and attached it to the aftermarket amps and just hooked the second amp to the first amp.
