APD requires no college credits. Im taking the tests primarily for experience. Whatever happens happens. I attend College and work part time so we will see.

I’m signed up to take both of those test’s as well.
Hopefully my college degree will help me out.
I’ll also be taking Rensselaer PD exam.
FYI The test is not a cakewalk guys… If you look at some of the sample test’s there is a lot to get strung up on.

The PAT will also follow, I’d assume a couple weeks after the test.

yeah thanks… i was number 66 out of 18,000+ who took the test and scored a legit %100 not counting the people who used there 5 veteran points to get a %100… i really wanna get into the state police jc bv of pay and what not… already took the PT tests

I know the Major who is in charge of ALL recruiting in NYSP and he was telling me that because im not finished up with my 60 credits yet ( in January i will) that i would have to wait 2 Acad. Class (every 6 MO) so the soonest i could get into the state would be in a least a year. So i figured that i would go into another PD that i only need 30 credits and then just transfer later on dow the road.
So im taking on the 15th
-Cohoes PD
-Albany County Sheriffs
-Schenectady PD
But seriously good luck to everyone that is taking the tests, I recomend if you are taking the tests download the online study guides and just review, that what i did on the state test. Also if your not sure whats going to be onthe tests they are all pretty much the same…
Basic Math (±) and you get scrap paper
Basic Grammer/English Skills
Situational Questions (what happened?,what was the order of events?..ect)they give you a situation like “robbery” or whatnot
Personality Questions (ex. " you work better alone." and then theres a scale 1(not at all)-10(all the time) )
I was told their wasn’t personality questions. Also basic math wasn’t on any of the practice test. But I could be wrong.
State police is a good gig. Getting in is very difficult without a college degree, there are a ton of applicants. Also I dont think people realize how hard is. You can get DQd for tons of shit in your past. Can basically have no drug use, MJ like 3 times? Etc.

yeah people dont realize what they can get DQ’d for ( for the state - theres a lot you can get dq’d for)
im thinking the locals will be a little easier than the state…well hopefully
the thing that sucks about transferring into the state police is that you have to go through their academy
true that… but they do pay $56k for the 6 mo you are in the academy… which is nice
no doubt… id do it in a heartbeat, my godmothers son is with the state park police, he went through the exact training as the troopers. Hes gonna transfer to the state police and has to go through the academy all over, mad stupid.
yeah without a doubt the NYSP acd. SUCKS!! and works you like no other but is worth it i guesss since its only 6 mo out of your life … ya know?
i hear that, then make like 70-80k after 5 years or so… cant beat it
