Albany SPEED Shop - DIY service now open.

As someone who runs a DIY shop, props to Darryl and David for getting this done. A DIY Shop is not easy or cheap and holds alot of liability. Great work in my honest opinion.

DIY service on Tues 30th & Weds 31st will have extended hours until 10ishpm, due too a few in house projects. Schedule today as there are only 6 lifts still available.

Thx
Eric

Is the dyno all wheel drive or just two wheel drive?

I think they said in their other topic it was only 2wd.

is the alignment machine up & running?

this

were is shop located at ???

This.

I was using Monro’s alignment machine but that thing is so out of calibration now and they wont pay for someone to come service it. An alignment would be great.

Hey all,

Interesting reads as I have been away from this thread for a couple of weeks…

The DIY service is a HUGE liability…and the insurance cost for this would blow your mind… But hey if you all want to do it on your own, then have at it…for the rest the pricing is at base amounts to cover costs and still allow this sort of thing to happen. You will not find another shop locally that says “hey come bring your vehicle, attitude and anything else you have into our facility and we’ll help you put it on the lift and be there to answer questions so you can work on your car out of the weather and off the ground with air and lights and a roof over you head!”

We had our first DIY customer in today…he wanted to change his oil and flush his tranny…but in discovery we found the range switch in the tranny bad…so he saved money on shop diag…did not need to do the flush he thought he needed to do to “fix” the tranny…

He rented the bay for one and a half hours, i charged him for one plus a 1/2 hour rent a tech time… He was tickled pink!! and guess what? the car didn’t fall on him… As we are learning, many like the service…they can clean the underside of the car, do some maintanance or whatever they want within our scope of can do’s

YES THERE IS A WAVIER OF LIABILITY… INS Co mandates it.

Those who do not need it / want it…need not schedule an appointment…

The DYNO is an eddy current 2WD roller model from land and sea…
good up to 1250hp and for vehicles with upto an 84" rear track width.

Like Eric said (saabboost) we will also have a small dyno for karts, bikes, and whatever has wheels under 400hp and less then 14,000rpm and under a 52" rear wheel track width
We will also have a small engine dyno for everything uptp 400hp under 14,000 rpm including snowmobiles.

We have a 1/4 mod here to look at, rent or purchase.
We have the modlites on the way.

Fabrication is happening here too. Another first for this service is here now. He request: make the car lighter…a lot lighter…it is in the shop now and we are going to cut into it in the next day or two.

The speed parts are soon to be ordered…if you need something when thats open LMK, I can get it, install it and test it!!

The alignment rack is a Hunter computer rack, all ditigal…ready and awaiting your arrival…

The rest of the services are slowly coming on board…

I’m sorry that we have not been able to turn the light on bright green as soon as some of you thought we should be able to. There is a lot involved and some dollars to go with it…

But soon, assuming everything pans out…the whole thing will be in operation for you to use and like and stop in to visit or not to use yet bash in a forum like this one. either way, I’ll be happy and so should you.

Heck, wouldn;t be easier to stop in say hello, shake my hand and let me show you whats to happen and how the plan should work??

I think so… By the sounds of it most of you drive right by anyway.

My name is Darryl. I own the dealership and the speed shop. I want to help you and your vehicles run better, faster, straighter or whatever tickles your fancy. We have no favorite brands for the speed shop. If you ask me to make it better…it will be what you want before it leaves and then some…

Im excited to get going and look forward to whomever stops in to say hello and introduce themselves…

IN FACT: I’ll make it worth it for you…IF you stop in and say hello to me, I will give you my business card and write a discount offer on it for you only. whats the discount? well lets see who shows and what they are looking to accomplish… I will make the discount for that area of service you want, not some lame discount for something you’ll never use!

Keep posting the questions and comments and keep spreading the word. I appreciate your interest in A.S.S. (lmao).

I promise we will not treat you like shit. Although you’ll be fed what you serve… For your hotrod, if you like it, so do we!!

Darryl

Are your scales available for DIY corner balancing?

Nice deal man! When i take the jetta to work this week, ill pop over and say hi.

yep, Scales are ready to go.
Just schedule an appointment so I can bring them from the race car shop to the speed shop.

We operate the scales for you and will give you a base setting you have and then discuss where you would like to go with it!
Yes, my scales are the good expensive ones!

Darryl

Call for an appointment 862-2795 ask for me
or my cell phone listed on www.albanyspeedshop.com

$175/hr…for dyno use with wideband on a land and sea roller…redic…synapse kills these prices no competition there.

I understand your opinion, but believe the difference is in the operation, communication and final results…

An hourly rate is aposted requirement… the time spent to get it right…is where you’ll see the difference…

Darryl

$25 difference isnt killing anything. Not to mention these guys sound like level headed people, more willing to go the extra mile to help someone out. So if it took an hr and 15-20 mins to finish something up, they might be willing to do so. i am not by anymeans putting words in thier mouths, but like he said with the first DIY bay customer, he hooked him up and went a little farther to help out and didnt nickle and dime him.

Id go to the established shop thats cheaper with a very well known tuner

I understand and agree to a point.

We understand we’ll have to prove what we know, how we work and build your trust as well as earn it.

When we have the Dyno, give it a chance…

Darryl

Back on topic:

DIY is open until 9ish tonight (Tues 4/6) due too some more Red-neck racing prep.

if i want it done right ill do it my self…and $175/hr is for me to just rent the dyno…without them tunning…i pay $100/hr(not tunning) at synapse and the dyno is alot better than a land and sea roller.

i mean dam if u add all the options , boost, air fuel the normal stuff that any dyno includes its would be like $200/hr just to rent it.
