Alberta Job Help !!!

I ! Like I have mentioned on my presentation thread, I’m from Québec and I will move to Alberta in aproximatively 3 weeks. I want to know the best place I have to go to find a job in pipeline or something like that. I want lot of money that’s all. Where I can find over 100 000$/years ? Thank you verry much.

Please, please, please, HELP ME

I wouldnt mind make $100k a year too. Someone give me a job!

yah i want over 100k a year to…to bad im in firefighting, i’ll never see that.
Well you should start a trade of some sort, or go to fort mcmurray and work in camps or smoething you can make killer money up there. but the work sux balls

Talk to an investment advisor. The best way to make money like that is assets. Ask them what kind of things you can do with a life insurance plan when you retire as well as investing in things that will make you way more money than RRSPs etc.

B-Wurm

a buddy of mine works in heavy duty and he gets paid 15gz a month

What type of schooling do you have.

If none go into trades. You will have to work your ass off for 100 g’s a year.

Open a meth lab and your all set.

Please don’t come to Alberta thinking that $100,000 per year jobs are everywhere.

No matter what industry you are in you will need good training and lots of experience to make that kind of money. Oh, and you will have to work hard for it. Don’t think that everyone here is making that kind of money and employers are just handing it to people.

What are your skills? What is your training? I think if you set your sights on about $40,000 - $60,000 per year you would be in the ball park depending on your skills and not be disappointed.

Don’t move all the way across the country if you are depending on making $100,000 when you get here. It very likely won’t happen.

Stay the hell away from stocks or mutual fund based RRSPs…too little return and no control over it…too risky no matter what you own. Real Estate all the way baby! Did you know you can loan yourself your own RRSP money to buy your own house and it still stays in your RRSPs, i.e., no taxes?

You will need some training (WHIMIS, H2S, First Aid, ect…) to get any pipeline job. Where do you want to live? The further North you go, the crappyer the work and smaller the citys, but the more you make. I live in Grande Prairie, and if you don’t care about your life, and having fun, and getting evening/weekends off, and if you ever live to use your money, then come up here and get a job on a camp working on a rig. But the death rate of young, in-expirienced workers is WAY to high for me to even think about it.

But you can easily make $20+ and hour around here and still live to tell about it, just don’t expect $40+ and hour.

A little while ago, the radio had an add for an experienced something or other to basically run a rig, and supervise all employees, be the manager of the site basically. and they were paying $900 per day!!!

Even our TimHortens is staring evening shifts at $15.50 with NO experience! Just depends what kind of life you want to have. Personally I want evenings and weekends off, and a health plan, and a company that cares about me as a person. And i found all that and more, and they pay pretty damn good to! Just have to look for it.

If you want some good cash for the summer, apply for Alberta Beach clean up. If you’re scared of getting cancer it’s not the best job, but thats why it pays so much.

Do you know how it is paid ?

And I don’t care about my week-end, I d’ont go to Alberta to have fun, I go to make money and after start my own buiseness. On the rigs, for a inexperimented worker like me, what’s the average salary ? Thanks

Call Precision Drilling, Ensign Drilling, and Nabors Drilling. They’re the big three. You can look up smaller drilling companies too, but these guys will hire you as long as you can piss in a bottle and work your ass off without complaining. There are a number of training courses you’ll need eventually, but give them a buzz to see what you need to start. There’s beaucoup de training opportunities in Nisku, so you can get whatever tickets you need without spending your whole life on course.

For that, they’ll pay you roughly 80k to start based on 96 hrs a week for two weeks and then a week off. If you’re any good you’ll work your way up the food chain. 8)

Good luck, and have fun!

Dan

PS - Think hard about how not to piss it all up against the wall and you’ll be ahead of the vast majority of rig hands.

in edmonton i know of a company that is looking for ppl right now to start working a relativly easy job starting at 15 bucks an hour.

so any one looking to start some where pm me.

What this mean ? Scuse me but i’m not an expert in english but in french, Piss is the action of urinate

And thank you for the info ! And now what I realy want to know, is in wich city I have to go to make the more money ? Is this Fort McMurray. I don’T care if I have nowere to live, I will buy someting like a GMC Savana and put a bed in the back of the truck and install me a mini DVD player 8) That will be my home !

I like your determination

Thank you 8) But when you pass 6 years to work and have difficulty to rent a little 3 1/2 appartment and you still drive old car. And you see that will not change untill you make a drastic move, it is where i’m here now ! I don’t want to be poor all my life !

everybody wants more for themselves man. we all understand. alberta does have a lot of jobs but jumping right into the 100k mark will be hard to find. lots of hard work though and should be able to get it soon

My brothers work for the company doing that cleanup. They make really good money as supervisors, but if your just the temp guy scooping up oil, they say you dont make that much.

If anyone needs a job in town, let me know. It’s construction work, but it starts at $16/hour and $24 for overtime, which we get a lot of (Average between 55-70 hours/week). The company I work for sounds like it needs guys like crazy!
