Alcoa to lay off 13500

Not a good sign, although aluminum is mad cheap right now.

sucks for my wifes mother and most of her family

On that same page…
Bank of America said today it will cut between 30,000 and 35,000 jobs in the next 3 years, the AP reports; the move is spurred by the continuing economic downturn and the bank’s recent purchase of Merrill Lynch.

hmm if only your god and savior GW didn’t do this to our wonderful country.

[/antagonizing]

My god? I am not JayS.:bush:

:jam: :hang:

Fuck this… im moving to northern Maine and becoming a mountain man!

^You may not be that far off. It may be like the depression with squatters all over the country.

more info? this is wierd, my wife works at the mortgage center and they are still hiring :gotme:

Good thing machining is still going steady…we had a slight hiccup and lost one of our smaller customers… but its basically business as usual…

Hows things going by you?

If only your democratic god and savior clinton did not force banks to give loans to people who could not afford them by majorly pushing subprime loans becuase “everyone deserves to own a home”. :bloated:.

That’s buyer stupidity, not clinton.

Hi I make 50k a year
You are approved for a $300,000 loan
AWESOME!!! I’ll never be able to pay that off sign me up

Clinton is the one who made it federally mandated that banks MUST approve a certain percentage of sub prime loans. One of his little “help the little guy” ploys that fucked us in the end. The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. Unless you’re a democrat.

This is why I don’t affiliate myself with any party…to much bitching while we all get fucked in the ass.

yes and if we didnt go to iraq for 5 years @1,000,000,000/Month we could start a public works project with everyone that got laid off to rebuild roads and clean up urban centers like fdr did after the depression.

both democrats and republicans at all levels of government have made poor choices that have got us into this mess

^The Iraq war could be considered a public works project.

Yeah, with more casualties.

Do you know how many casualties there were in the building of the Hoover Dam? They were only civilians.:stuck_out_tongue:

or the great wall of china? That was a public works project…it was forced labor, which is probably what we need.

Hoover Dam Casualties:
Deaths attributed to construction: 112; 96 of them at the construction site

I hope you are not implying that public works got us out of the depression. Ut dragged the downturn on. It wasn’t until WWII that we started digging our way out of the depression, and that cost us a few million american lives.

Well…it will be what it will be.
