AMC model 20 vs. Ford 9"

Just wondering if any AMC/Jeep guys have input on this especially before I start throwing money around. The Ford 9 would definately be the stronger choice but dropping $2500 for a Currie set-up may be overkill for what I want to do. I plan on running 12’s with my Javelin once it’s finished and I was thinking of using the factory model 20 with the Moser “one-piece” axles. Does anyone know anything about them, what they can handle, etc. Thanks for the input:beer:

i think you can do better than 2500 for currie setup. you can prob find a 9 inch out of an old mustang that would bolt right in, aside from maybe welding spring perches. another place to talk to in continental competition in uniontown. they build differentials there

From what I’ve read, the 20s are pretty darn strong after the 1-piece mod.

Thanks for the input guys. Right now I’m gonna try the Moser axles for $229. I’ve also heard the Model 20 is fairly stout with the Moser axles but only from the Jeep crowd. Guess I’m gonna find out if they can handle some drag racing:x:

The AMC 20 axle is a stout unit. It gets it’s bad rep from the 2 piece axles.

Moser FTW :bigthumb:
