I’ve seen a cop shooting radar out of a: trailblazer…f150…motorcycle…ford ranger. they are cops…they are above anyone… either way they catch you…you are speeding so you are doing something illegal.

where was this?
Because I know it’s not true in Erie County having talked to cops about it. I think it’s the most ridiculous shit ever when people say that.
I saw it while driving from NY to Seattle it was in Wy or Montana IIRC. I believe it was like this in Charlotte NC when i lived there as well. Sorry you think facts are rediculous hahah.
I also clearley say it must be state/county as it wasnt in erie county durrrr.
lol, i remember when i was in the OBX with lemons in his s2k and i got pulled over for doing 11mph over
cop comes up and taps on the V1 and says “guess that thing doesn’t work too well”, to which i simply responded “it works fine, just wasn’t expecting you to be using the same kind of radar my grocery store uses to open the door when i walk in”
he laughed real hard
and then gave me a ticket
fucker

I didn’t mean to imply I thought you were lying or anything. I just think that law is ridiculous no matter where it is. And I’ve heard so many people say that in Erie when I know that it isn’t the case.
ok simple solution to thread = do not speed do not worry
I wasn’t bitching about anything. It is just a heads up to those of us that use radar detectors for spirited driving.
On a different note, when I drove to Albany last month there were no troopers out driving there and only 1 on the way back. Going to Syracuse Tuesday Wednesday had 7 troopers there and 4 on the way back. wtf is with the inconsistencies.
BTW, I was doing almost 18 over in the left lane with Trooper denali’s or whatever those trucks are and so long as I got over, they didnt bother me. Best part was doing 90 in a 65 coming back from Syracuse with a Crossfire and a Monte SS going past 3 troopers with no issues. Maybe they have bigger fish to fry?

Word. Yea i thought the same when i saw it. Whats funny is they still try to hide hahaha i swear they do. Im almost sure it was in charlotte NC when i first saw it. But i know i saw it on my way across the US as well.

Ka band is not hard to detect at all, my V1 picks that up and they can be pretty far up the road too
the probelm these cops have is they leave it ALWAYS ON and not just instant on thats why they never get as many speeders as they’d like
City Of Tonawanda for example is the best one to use because they ALWAYS! drive with their radars constantly on Ka so its easy to tell where and when they are coming from
so them hiding is no secret they might as well stick out a white flag and say hi im here go slow
Patrol Cops dont care about being sneaky. There are so many people out there who speed regularly with no radar detectors that they dont have to be, another fish comes along every minute. Plus if your radar detector picks up radar a mile down the road… thats just one and a half miles that he just got you to slow down for.
Btw amherst police just bought 6 chargers and have 4 more on the way. One is unmarked and they now have 2 rooftop plate readers. Good thing is they are only the 6cyls so you know you can outrun them ; )

this used to be a racing forum, its not anymore so everyone will just tell you not to speed.
on the point of the police having to keep their lights on it beggs the question. What is their goal? If the shoot radar with their lights on they slow the majority of traffic and in theory make the highway a safer place to drive, shooting radar with ligts off just issues tickets and only slows a handfull of people.
slow the majority > punish the unlucky

Oh god, those things are pathetic. :mamoru:
Nothing better than less than 250 whp pulling around more than 3500 (numbers not verified lol)
I saw 2 truck loads of unmarked “Police Interceptors” on the 90 on my way home either yesterday or the day before, all in Amherst blue. Kinda neat that they label them that, and the rear area between the lights is black not painted like a regular crown vic…when you see about 20 of them next to a regular Crown Vic you start to really notice the difference. Not a single roof light but it looked like they had those interior LEDs lights and all had the spot lights.
hmm i wonder why they waste our tax dollars on the fuckin 6 cylinder
id rather them bend us over and at least ahve the hemi ya know.
so that way i know our hard earned money is at least getting us something that will get them to the call quicker then the 6.

Sad but true…
But another thing I noticed lately around here in WNY is profiling, ive been stopped so many times this past year and I was NOT doing anything illegal!
Ticket 1 - wife driving, ticketed for tint and modified exhaust…
I bought the car used from the place I work for with the window tint, and the exhaust at the time was a 80 series crossflow flowmaster behind my 2.0 liter 4cyl…
Ticket 2 - I got stopped after leaving the hospital for a modded exhaust, same setup as above…the cop tried to get me for tint but realised I removed it and nailed me for littering because I tossed my Cig Butt out the window before he came up to my car…
Ticket 3 - I got stopped when I was on the way to the mother inlaws to fix her furnace, Nailed for rear window tint and no front plate…
Ticket 4 - I got stopped for speeding and a modded exhaust. At this time I had the stock exhaust on the car and the trooper did not believe me, then stated I was speeding, I told him I was doing 60mph in a 55mph zone…same thing, did not believe me, he looked around the car and got me for a front plate being covered…
this time my front plate was on the car but it was mounted behind the front grill mesh…NYS law states nothing can cover a front plate…period!
Damn cops…

You were illegally tinted, and as we all know, anything other than stock exhaust is illegal in NYS.

Exhaust still illegal, and you did litter your cigarette.

Stock exhaust, no ticket - imagine that. 60 in a 55 IS speeding. And illegally mounted front plate.

Yes, damn cops.
:picard:
Wow, I feel safer already. To the police: why don’t you go out and actually fight crime, instead of writing BS tickets?* Another question for the Gestapo: if you and the town decide to generate revenue by writing BS tickets, why not do it on residential streets where “speeding” is actually dangerous and annoying?**
*Rhetorical question, I know the answer.
** Another rhetorical question, I know the answer.
OTOH: people who litter SHOULD be ticketed. It is similar to speeding on a resdential street versus where they usually write tickets. It does makes things shittier for everyone. I wish they would write MORE tickets/make more arrests for “quality of life” crimes. Like noise - the effin Harleys pizz me off.
Oh well, guess I better start my campaign for Emperor.
Do the speed limit and you dont have to worry.

That’s crazy talk son, just keep it 10 over or less.

Are you serious? They are faster than the POS Crown Vics, and handle MUCH better. They get better mileage too, less waste of my money.
