All they had to do was ensure it would start to fall in one direction… gravity takes over after that. Once it starts to fall, all of the mortar breaks free and there’s really no resistance to pull it in any other direction.
Yes they did, they are actually quite jolly and friendly. As said before, they’ve done work for my grandfather before, so they are kinda like pals.
Hmm, I thought they don’t want to be photographed/videotaped because it “steals their soul”?
From what I’ve seen the rope is used when they have to force a tree to fall in a direction it won’t naturally because of wind or balance issues.
Once all that mass gets moving in one direction it’s not going to change direction half way down.
The tree cutter that took down the 5 foot diameter willow at my mom’s used a rope because he said the tree would naturally want to fall toward the neighbor’s house. So he put some tension on it, took some branches off one side to change the balance, and made the cut so it would start falling the other way. He ended up dropping it within 1.5 feet of where he said would.
thanks JayS for answering what I was actually asking lol
Not like it was going to fall straight down like this:
FAIL
LOL whoops…
With the amish I don’t think its the camera steals their soul kind of thing… its more of a vanity kind of thing… IIRC.
its just disrespectful to them. I forgot what are amish neighbor said it was all about. I haven’t talk to him in a while
looks like youtube finished processing it, it’s available in HD now. haha
Thats fuckin great
Thats voodoo. Haitians manly practice that. They freek out when you are about to take their picture. I learned the hard way when I was in Florida.
I have a lot of respect for the amish. Pretty cool stuff.
lol. really? You better be drunk.
Hey Burnt, where was this? Just curious.
i never thought watching a silo demolition would be so hilarious. nice work. to you and the amish,
Nope it would only take 1 laborer and 1 operator, and would be down and cleaned up within an hour, Ask me how I know. The only time things get retarded is when the state or erie county get involved, surprise surprise. Putting up windmills all summer I got to watch alot of amish in action and I don’t think they really sleep.
those guys are nuts
should have hired these guys…
:biglaugh:
