after gathering 20 some AN fittings, i found a combination for my truck.
I have -8 AN fuel feed line, and -6 AN fuel return line.
the -6 hose was tight as hell going into the hose ends. but the -8 hose went in easily (still had to thread the hose end on). The hose is in, i can’t pull it out, but there is a gap between the hose, and the fitting.
all parts are from Summit.
but the -6AN hose seemed like -6.5 (no such thing). and the -8AN looks like -7.5 (no such thing).
anyone else who does AN lines come across this. This is my first time doing AN hoses.
The hose should go into the hose end right up to the threads. Then when you screw the hose end together, you are supposed to tighten it up until they meet. There should not be any gap.
Tip #1: Cut the hose with an abrasive cutter (I use a dremel) instead of a hacksaw.
Tip #2: Lubricate the hose itself before shoving it into the hose end. Also lubricate the threads and the tip that goes into the hose before screwing the hose end together. (Russell makes a special lubricant, but 3 in one oil works just as well).
Tip #3: Buy Russell, or Aeroquip, or Earls. Don’t buy Summit stuff. I had Summit hose ends break right off as I was trying to tighten them. Unfortunately, this shit is just expensive and ya get what ya pay for…
if you got 6an lines and 6an fittings they should work fine. they will be somewhat tight getting into the fittings but once you slide them in, twist the hose end so it screws in, and then screw the other end in to make sure everything is tight and together.
