An idea I am working on... help would be appreciated...

I made it animated to help visualize what I need to do here. Not to mention I was bored at work and also wanted to bump the thread. Here goes.

how about some vette tailights.

trailor/wrangler lights are probably cheaper. Since I’m poor I pretty much have to go with cheap/free.

I dont have actuators. I have air rods that I am using.

air rods as in hydrolic lifts? coz those aren’t electric and you mentioned you want this system to be at the push of a button.

if that’s the case then u need actuators like 2FNFast said

if u do it right i’m sure it would be good for some show points:cool:

No, not hydraulics. I’m using pneumatic air cylinders that I already have. They’re actually air shocks off of the rear of my S-10 that I have fitted with a fill/dump valve. They’ll work exactly like hydraulics but with air instead of fluid. I already have an air management system in my truck.

a few minor progress pics…

looking great man, nice to see someone actually talk about doing something different and actually doing it and following up about it. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

thats funny you’re going through with it… it’ll be neat when done… i’m assuming illegal as fuck… but that’s just me… :tounge:

I’m not worried about the legal situation. Once it’s finished I’ll have valid defense against everything in the PA inspection books. At least all that I’m aware of. I still haven’t found the exact type of hinge that I was hoping for but have a suitable one in the works. Now that it’s gettin warm I’ll have more time to play. I’ll keep updates comin.

A couple more progress pics of the hinges. It started to rain so I called it a day already.

I connected the output of my door popper relay to my fill valve switch so I could film with my digi-cam and activate.

neat, now just make it all look really clean… gotta be clean. good luck

loooking good!!

ok, not a big whoopty doo of an update but now it goes back down too! time delay is from my passenger door remote… aux2 is a “hold the unlock for 2 secs then release and push it again” deal… might have to save as…

I finally got a chance to get some more work done on this thing. I got a 1/8 peice of sheet metal yesterday and began attaching that. It doubled the weight at least of the whole thing. I think it will work alot smoother with the additional weight so thats a bonus. Just gotta keep in mind what that fat cable guy says: GIT R DUN!!
