and here we go...

It’s a little better than dropping $110k on a ZR1 or '13 Viper that performs the same.

But you can drive them on the street.

Why can’t you drive a ZL1 on the street?

Im an idiot. Was thinking the copo.

Lol I knew that’s what you were thinking of. The copo is certainly a waste of $$

The Viper will probably do 11.4 with street tires (est. from Car and Driver) and will crush the Camaro on a road course. They aren’t even in the same league. There was a ZL1 with slicks today at the Valley running 11.4 in negative DA.

Still, the Viper is going to be $40k+ more than a ZL1 Camaro. No doubt the Viper is more exotic and a sleeker platform, but performance wise the ZL1 @ $62k is the better bang for the buck performance. Car and Driver, no one, can speculate shit because the thing hasn’t even been on a track.

someone showed up with a zl1 yesterday at our dynoday, I didn’t get to see what numbers it put down though. Frank was cheesing it all afternoon. Maybee he can chime in on the numbers.

Any chance it was red or black?

It was red. Made 509

Nice, must’ve been the one that went to Depaula. Sucks it was automatic though.

the a6 auto’s in those things are killer. I would choose the auto over the M6 IMO.

true!^ automatic is def the way to go

Hmm, I didn’t drive the auto one. I drove a 6MT one.

I saw it on the dyno, could have sworn it made 513 which is pretty damn impressive. The owner of the zl1s buddy with the cts-v and the htr camaro made 599 with the v and over 700 in the 2010 camaro. Was impressed by all 3, and I fucking hate gm.

yeah but sadly the 5th gens are so heavy that a 420rwhp 4th gen’s are running with 520rwhp 5th gen’s.

Definitely agree… I’m stating that a 580hp crank making 513whp is awesome. Also the intake, pulley, tuned cts-v making 599whp is pretty sick.

Heavy or not, a 500whp car from factory for 60k is pretty good value… Not my cup of tea, but still a good value.

If I were Ilya, Id start comparing to Hondas and infinitis…

I know what you mean but ever since the LS1 they have been under rated.

I mean shit, my car was rated at 335hp and it put down 351rwhp through a set of long tubes and a Y pipe. Everything else stock including catback and intake.

Why not just put a more realistic number out, especially when it’s more. 513whp is like 640 crank with 20% loss…

You would think advertising it as 640hp would be more beneficial for sales than 580.

because that would be bad for sales. They cant have a $60k “pony car” making the same power as a $120k ZR1.

its like the whole Camaro vs C5 thing back when they were on the lots. The C5 was rated at 350hp and the camaro’s 310hp but yet the Camaro’s were putting down more power on the dyno’s because of the SRA over the IRS. Its all about the level of the car and sales.
