another cad request ... sheet metal elbow from that goes from round to rectangle

ovrhead view, the diagnal black line is the maf and the horizontal black line is how far the cone filter has to be able to slide down, so the 3" round pipe and actualy extend closer to the top edge of the below illistration

all i have left to work w/ is flat sheet metal, and the airbox will never be seen either, as its inside the front bumper under the drivers side headlight. the only way youll see it is if your under the car, so it doesnt have to be beautiful, just efective

image one of the measurements, the “anything up to 2.5” is to the outer edge of the maf plate seen in the 2nd pic, which shows the outer dimensions and the inner dimensions ill have to cut it to

ill make the maf plate myself, thats no big deal …just need patterns for the elbow

hope this all made sense

thanks in advance

nope. not at all

if i was home i would…we dont use 3D here…but if newman doesnt hook u up i will when i get home today

connect the filter to the maf , dont hit the bumper, dont move the filter to far to the right

a million times better

yea, i made the mistake of sending it from my phone to my aol email, which took 6 hours to get there, so i had to wait a while for it … sorry bout that guys

bump

thats a tight bend

give me a little time and I’ll do it for ya

cool, thanks

Hey man, can u draw some sketches representing what your lookin for? looking at those pics you attached I cant tell exactly what your asking for.

an Iso view would be best… with some rough dims of what you want. then from there you can let me know if you want something tweaked

easiest way i can think of to make it will still having dececent airflow

outside curve @ the filter … rounded off to blend into the 4 sided elbow
outside curve @ the MAF … simple pie shaped corners to take the elbow from 8 to 8 sides

inside curve, since its so short will probably just have to be a pair of 45* corners from the filter right to the maf … i can only do so much w/ the emachineshop program to illistrate this , so just take the two 45* corners i have in the l;ast image and wrap them alll the way to the maf

wouldnt haveing that tight of a bend right near the maf mess up the readings?

i hope not, lol

ehh that cant be good for the maf.

well i guess im gonna have to find out the hard way here , cut all the pieces, a few tack welds, some duct tape and put the elbow in place, see what happens

I can almost assure you that it will mess with the readings. I know with the MAC cold air kit for the mustangs, the bend in front of the MAF was causing the car to lean out pretty bad… so alot of guys just cut that piece right out of the kit.

it’s better to have a nice smooth inlet in front of the MAF. That bend will probably make the air pretty turbulant (sp)

why not attach the filter directly to the MAF? Too long?

arg, ill just have to figure something else out then

the filter just barely jams between the maf and the bumper … and if i do that we can never open up the bumper vents, otherwise the filter will get soaked anytime water hits the front bumper

well maybe you should just have the filter and maf in the engine bay right behind the rad. who cares if you want cold air
