another freaking new guy

A locking converter is better anyways.

^ troof…

Get a new trans and converter thru performabuilt , Prolly cost ya 3k or so but it will be built for what ya want . Mine is thru them and its solid . I can do the install if need be . If ya put a new better in there now without a rebuild u will just hurt them both .

nice hoe and welcome to shift.

^thanks for the welcome

just wanted to add another +1 to coppola motorsports, and 88slowmarro for that matter. not many shops will call the customer preemptively when they hear about an issue (that is no fault of theirs at all!) i can’t wait to get my trans issues worked out and get this truck back on the road!

He called ya ? I gave him a buzz to see what codes ya had at his place and so on .

yep, just got off the phone with him before i posted that… i’m going to take it back by there this week sometime and let him look at it… thanks again

found the cause last weekend of my misfire issue… turns out it was a busted plug :frowning: anthony and i drove around a bit and with the scanner hooked up, quickly narrowed it down to the #3 cylinder… upon pulling the plug wire, it was very obvious that the spark plug had been dropped, so we threw one he had laying around in it and the misfire went away… now to sort out the trans issues, hopefully for good, or at least enough that i can get my truck back on the road reliably for a while… i dropped it off at his place again today and am having him install a trailblazer 4.2 torque converter, trans cooler, a new set of shift solenoids, and a new trans filter (might as well while he is in there)… i dont think my trans is hurt, so for now i’m going to run it… i’m really looking forward to putting some power down to the ground finally instead of just spinning a loose ass converter lol… while we had the scanner hooked up, we saw that on average while cruising down the highway, there was about 700-1000rpm worth of slip happening inside the converter- the new one should fix that and make it into a whole different animal!

Dude that motor swap ordeal was hurtin. Clean truck though

it has definitely been a long, painful ordeal, but in the end i think it will work out ok… thanks for the compliment

finally got the truck fixed and home!!! new, custom 2600 stall circle d stage 2 converter with upgraded clutches, new pump seal, new shift solenoids, and a fresh filter and bg synthetic fluid installed along with some computer adjustments on the shift points/line pressures… damn it feels good to drive it again!!!

Did I do a good job ???

definitely man… this new converter is 100000000000x better than that p.o.s. that was in there before… it’ll be a couple days until i put any real miles on it due to needing to renew my registration and get it inspected, but it felt strong and solid on the way home tonight

What ya do wit the old one ? Still at anthonys ? Did he tell ya about the headbolt leaking oil on the driver side rear ?

yeah, the old one is sitting in a box in his garage… feel free to take it if you want it… i have no use for it

and yes, he told me about the head bolt(s)… im going to drive it for a little bit and then the dealer will be taking care of that… that engine has ~98,000 miles left on the warranty

Good shit , warranty f.t.w . I still can’t belive it has 200k on it . Underneath is clean as hell .

no doubt… gotta love family owned vehicles that have spent their whole life in the south

next on my list is cleaning it up overall… it’s been neglected and bounced around from shop to shop for the last 5 months… the interior is filthy by my standards :frowning:

Bottom is getting undercoated by the leak lol

next up is new wheel bearings (timken) since my left front is making some noise now

also, looking at suspension/wheels… this is everything i’m looking at putting on there… it’s expensive but supposedly handles GREAT and the ride is still pretty good… thoughts?
