Another one bites the dust: Ford axes GT

very well put ^

Calm down. :frowning: I’m sure they have a very good reason to axe the GT. I’m sure Ford hires people to figure this stuff out, no?

I can not believe how fucking COMPLETELY CLUELESS YOU ARE ABOUT THE CONSUMER and BUSINESS decisions.

Fucking idiot. It’s not about what makes a car good you dumbass.

yes, they do. because like said above, Ford said from day 1 that the GT was only a limited production run for 2-3 years. they never intended to build tons of them. they are primarily hand built cars, so you cant crank out tons of them. also they are built in the Wixon, MI plant, which is slated to be closed soon.

Thank god stupid fucks like yourself dont design and build cars.
Call up Ferrari and tell them that. Im sure their management would appreciate your insight since tehy missed that part.

BTW you forgot to take your Zoloft again… double up this time

It’s apparent that your ignorance is going to forbid you from having a rational thought ever.

If Ford was making money had over foot on the GT (which they aren’t) then they would continue to make it.

The GT is priced high due to the very high costs to produce it, and is sold with a very slim profit margin.

A company like Ford, that makes it’s money selling family sedans and trucks, creates a car like the GT to create brand excitement and consumer enthusiasm. Grow the fuck up if you think they did it for any other reason. Stop riding it’s balls. The GT was produced for a reason, filled it’s role, and AS PLANNED, has ended it’s useful life. A limited production supercar is going to do more for the company than selling a few hundred more units would. The exclusivity and excitement it brings to the brand is priceless.

I never said (nor did anyone else) that the GT should be a $50k car, idiot.

In case you missed it

Ford runs a business, not a charity for the .0005 percent of the population that are automotive enthusiasts that can afford a $150k car.

Really? Since I am the business sense handicapped maybe you could explain to everyone the logic behind building a limited run exotic with a miniscule profit margin. Since the “BIG BUSINESS” Ford Motor Company is all about making money why would they do this?

My business sense tells me that the profit margin on a limited production product should be reasonable high… certainly high enough to cover all costs involved. The opposite would be true for a high volume product. A small profit margin would be acceptable because the quantity of sales would more then make up for it.

Brand excitement? WTF? Where does that fit into your “Lets just make money” philosophy? So they want to make money but are wlling to lose their assses to build brand excitement? Shit the Ford GT is a awesome car!! Im so fucking excited right now the bulge in my pants is preventing me from getting up and running over to the Ford dealership right now to buy a Fuckus.

Whats priceless is your threads and arguments. I wish I could save these and compile a book. I would call it “Numbnuts: The Lost Episodes”

No?
““No, more correctly it’s No customer would buy a $150,000 Ford GT when they could get better performance out of a $40,000 mustang.””-walter

Seems like a direct comparison implying just that.

Are they trying to make money or create brand excitement then?
Im so fucking confused right now I need a Zoloft too.
Do you have any left?

You have made it painfully clear that you have no idea what you are talking about, it seriously is laughable.

Learn to fucking read.

Since you obviously didn’t. I’m not going to bother replying to you. Dumbass.

What about the Zoloft? Hook a brotha up!

lol

Just an FYI the new shelby GT500 is rated at 475 hp. Pretty close to the GT numbers wise, but thats about all its close to the GT in performance wise

No zolot, just a cold dose of “toldyaso”

Bill Ford said, “We usually think of sports cars as being more about the heart than about the head. But frankly, these cars make good business sense. The GT has become the pace car for the entire company. It’s taught us new lessons about accelerating product development, and brought incredible excitement to the brand.

Companies like Ford use cars like the GT, and racing programs to develop technologies for their other cars, and to create brand excitement.

The GT was not developed to be a long term production vehicle. It never was, and they have no intention of doing that. The fact that you are so ignorant that you can’t realize that is mind numbing, maybe you’ve been popping too many pills. The Ford GT did exactly what it was supposed to do. Now it’s on to the next car. You seriously are retarded.

Walter is correct. The GT was built to generate excitement and create a stir to liven up the ford brand. The ford name has taken a bit of a beating in almost all consumer levels over the past few years, be it low end or high end. Volkswagen did the exact same thing in creating the bugatti veyron. Ford used their brand to create a sports car that has engineering greatly surpassing that of all of their standard production vehicles. Bugatti took the same idea and went a little overboard. I believe in the end it cost volkswagen 60M even after listing the veyron on the market for 1.5M.

It is an investment in the companies future, and in the brand. It is just like any other form of brand acceleration marketing. The concept is to get the name out and create a wave of excitement over it. you go to the auto show to check out the “Ford GT”, not just the GT, but the FORD GT. While you are there, you look at the rest of the models on the floor, and since you the consumer are in need of a new vehicle, and you see some qualities that are inherrent throughout the line or that were developed by the GT project and used in say the mustang, you decide to buy a ford. They therefore sold you on the brand. It is simple business, Ford knew from the go that they would never successfully build and sell that car to 99% of the new vehicle buying public. It is the 1% that they counted on getting really excited, to keep them from losing their shirt totally on the campaign. The car was made for a reason. they have completed that reason, now it is time to go. this is even more apparent when you look at the plant that it is produced in. That plat produces several cars that are no longer going to be produced, so why would they pay all of those people to make a car that they are making no $ on directly when they aren’t enven making normal production cars? They wouldn’t it is common business sense. Why waste the resources

Well put mike

:touchy:
