Another reason why you should change your own oil change...

I am not surprised in the least.

Thats why you either do it yourself or let someone you trust work on your car. Not take it to the J-Team.

if that ever happened where i work i would make one phone call and they would be fired. goodyear has a protect our good name phone number that has to be posted for employes to see.

thats shitty, do your own work, it may not be quick and easy, but with some learning it will be right.

i never take any of my cars in to get worked on… i do all my own shit no matter what it is

It has nothing to do with doing your own work… tell ytour grandma to change her CV joints next time you see her.

it is about people being honest.
Not only those performing the task, but those around that person. If the dude in the bay next to him knows he didn’t do the job, he is as guilty as the first guy if he doesn’t say anything.

“If you change your own oil you know it was done right”

I don’t remember the last time I changed my oil… with the connections I have it isn’t even worth me jacking up the car/truck to do it. For $20 I’ll pay someone else to do it… and I will drink their coffee. But for $20 I will watch them like a hawk.

exactly. that’s what i was thinking. you can’t expect everyone to do their own stuff esp. when they don’t ahve the capabilities. You just have to go somewhere you trust and hope that people are honest.

Exactly.I’ve never even changed my oil. There was this guy in LKPT still there(stamp’s on transit.) Uses Gulf oil and a delco filter.11.95!!! been doing it for 40+ yrs.My dad brings him the oil(mobil 1 Walmart 18.88) and filter (Fram $4 walmart)for his Vette and he charges him like $6. $30 bux for a Mobil 1 oil change and helping one of the good ol guys out.I take the Vette to Paddock for complimentary changes, yes Mobil 1 too.
D

i have a :snky: connection, $20 for mobil 1… i just bring in the car, no shopping.

I do 90% of my own work. For stuff I don’t want to F with I have a shop that I trust and I know does good work. They take pretty good care of me, not the cheapest around but the piece of mind is worth a few bucks.

nice. like he said, it’s all about trust.

christ, that is some really bad PR.

hey, you fixed it for me in the quote… good guy!!

You can’t trust everyone… but if your a smart shopper you don’t have to worry too much.

shit like this happends.ive seen it. both auto places i have worked were pretty honest. i did quit the last one(2 days b4 my 2 week notice was over). i was told if i didnt try to sell the elderly lady who came in for tires a fuel system i could go home right now. i dont believe in selling outside the box as i call it. say u come in for a oil change.iam going to mention ur air filter. u replace it idf u want. if ur above 50 thousand miles ill mention a fuel system cleaning or a tranny flush. but if you come in for tires iam going to look at ur tires if they r worn unevenly i will tell u hey these tires look bad u need a alignment. iam not going to add oh 100 thousand miles u better get a fuel system cleaning. u shouldnt throw everything at a customer when they come in. pushing things on customers makes them intimidated and then they dont wanna come back.these franchises r all about numbers not about customers.

i remember my old job at a quick lube place…

whenever it was dead, the rest of the idiots would sit in the pit and get high.

worst thing i ever did was put whasher fluid in the oil of a new subaru…
must of had a quart or 2 in there before i realized what i was doing…

so, i had the pit guy pull the drain plug and “pit skip” started yelling… “hey… tell that guy he needs a head gasket”
then flushed something like 12 quarts of oil through the damn thing

my favorite was when a new guy never filled the diff on a new camaro.

Ive often suspected places would do this shit, like how do you know if a place is really changing your oil when you go in for your change? Valvoline shows you your dipstick, but they could just dip it in a new quart of oil and tada your out the door. Guess its just who you take it too, if you know them they probably wont try to f you.

if they show you the dipstick, then they probably changed the oil…
Its the level you should worry about…

it’s a lot easier to wipe the excess with your thumb, or hold it upside down, than it is to make it right…

werd… when ever I bring my vehicles in to be serviced, I do the same (unless I know the person working on it)

word…i take my gf car to Jiffy lube for pure warrenty sakes because if somethign were to go wrong i have all the service receipts…but i always watch them very closly

I covered my entire car with bodily fluids, this way I can check with my UV light to see if parts have really been replaced.
