Another TW thread

ok question for ryanmcell mostly, but how come timewarner keeps detecting a virus, or i should say a program that send out spam emails when i just got TW set up here
AND all 3 computers are brand new out of the box
not even 72 hours old

we are behind a Firebox Soho 6
and like i even did their website security scans and a fresh PC-Cillin install and complete scan and nothing there as well

any help why they keep doing this? or saying this?
hijack this shows nothing but what i am ACTUALLY allowing to run.

You mean Time Warner is detecting virus? Like quarentining your modem?

kinda when i go on the internet it has me read this thing that says they detected a virus blah blah blah then i have to click this
agree to the TOS to get it back
then about 4 seconds later the net is back up…

is it because there is 3 of us trying to use the net.?

you actually use TWs softwarez?

No, that would def be a quarentine issue. If its def not a virus on you’re computer, try connecting without the router in place, see if thats an issue. I’ve seen that happen a few times the past week or 2 when handling quarentine/abuse issues.

Also pm your number, and I can see why it keeps doing that exactly.

i don’t have a verizon number but i will pm you my cell…
or just pm me and let me know exactly what you need.

Whichever # the accounts under, let me know.

ok

No quarentined anymore, but it’s def one of the computers problem with spam. Could be myspace links, or anything clicked on the web that possible put spyware probably on there somewhere.

If you installed PC Cillin after the infestion it’s not gonna get rid of it. I’d boot into safe mode and check it out…

Since you have a router it doesn’t specify which IP since they are private.

yeah i use the firebox soho6 if that helps
i know the ip it gave me if that helps but you say it doesnt

so how do i get rid of it and or check it out in safe mode?
im not quite sure how to do that.

Reboot into safe mode.
2 easy ways.

  1. Reboot, hit F8 at start screen, and choose safemode or
  2. Start - Run - Msconfig - Boot.ini - check the safeboot option.

That gets you into safe mode.
Personally I’d just reformat and then be like listen they are a fresh machine. But thats me, is it Vista or XP?

XP Pro Sp2 got it before the vista changes just never opened them

they are fresh there is nothing on them

is there a way to find out what email program is sending out the spam whatever so i can delete it?

also when i was hooked up alone with no other pc’s without a router i had no issues so something tells me maybe that the 3 pc’s we have running sent out way to much data and it thinks its spam? or a virus?
does it tell you name of the virus ? or anything other then just spam?

Switched to Pm’s since no one else answered this thread lol.
