ANOTHER weekend at THE GLEN (no 56k)

Vintage weekend, a great time as always. Saw a ton of cool cars, good races, etc. Didn’t watch as much racing this year as I have in the past as we left early Sunday to go to a little party.

they took the various classes through the original track. on the front straight (where all the people are) they go kinda slow, but the rest of the track the pace cars let them haul ass (my dad and I snuck in one year lol)

This was pretty fucking cool. 1969 (yes, they did come in 69!) 240z, vin # 00006. 1st z in north america, 1st z to race in north america, 1st 240z to win a race in north america, multi time scca champ. restored by bob sharp’s company, I believe

shelby daytona replicar, supposed to be VERY accurate. currently selling for $65k. I guess they got an original (i believe there were only 7 made?) and made all the molds and reproduced it. Carrol SHleby’s sold a few years ago for 6.5 mil, and another one in rough ass shape sold for 4 mil about 3 years ago

another blast at the glen.

So many fapworthy cars…

shit i meant to put this in Gen Auto. i guess it still works here. I just like this forum cause there are more gen auto hits

hotTtness!!!

Andre we saw you tooling around the during the parade lap in the white wagon

Everytime I go to this it makes me want to get a racing license and get into the sport

Too bad I dont have a poop load of money cause this is what I would be doing in my spare time, maybe someday when I have the cash…

that volvo is a wiring mess…zip ties son

the racing license is pretty darn expensive, but track days are not that bad at all. I hope to do at least 5 this upcoming summer. there are lots of guys who don’t even trailer there cars there, and just run sticky street tires and use those on the track.

so much fun, track days are definately worth every penny. I think I paid $180 for the track school a couple weeks ago, and that includes classroom sessions and a driver instructor in every heat.

Really? Who told you that?

“nothing cool ever happens near Buiffalo”

Great pics, glad you are enjoying the life.

I was going to go to this with some people from work, but last minute they got called away. looks like it was hella fun, maybe next year I’ll get out dere.

nice pics btw  love those shelbys on parade.

i just meant in terms of the SVRA vintage racing. I don’t know the cost otherwise, how is it?

The quick breakdown…

-Novice Permit $110

-Region License $75 (plus completion of two schools, and two events which in fact are cheaper than lapping days and better action) This is THE license to have. Recognized by NASA, EMRA, ect. ect.

-National License $75.00 (plus the completeion of 4 region events, not including the 2 required for Region License)

-VINTAGE LICENSE $55.00 (plus the completeion of two region events under Novice Permit)

-FIA Driver $200.00 (plus completion of 5 National events)

So a Vintage License would cost a whopping $165.

i was out there on sat for qualifying…def. a great time got to walk the pits and see some amazing cars and talk to a few very cool owners. the carrera gt’s were even hotter in person than on top gear

man i wish i was there, that would be soooo much fun

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v727/Coldaccord/glenpicsday12061.jpg

i’ve seen that car advertised in the back of road and track for a while now, had always wondered if anyone actually got one! how’d it look up close? wonder how much they are :stuck_out_tongue:

and that '69 z is HOT

they are very pimp, i wont lie. talked to the guy last year (its a company rep, not just a private car) and the guy seemed too egotistical. “everything is custom, the brakes, even the paint. blah blah”

and jeremy- I guess I was misinformed. The guy who told me could have been factoring in the cost of paddock rental and specific race entry fees too maybe?

If that is the case I may try and get my uncles car next year. I hope to do a bunch of track days in my z, but i don’t really want to bang mine up racing. we’ve got like 8 240z’s now, so I’m sure I could coax one. My uncles has a fresh motor with dual webers, g nose, flared fenders, etc. He kind of alluded that I may be able to track it next year, since last week he just dropped a 2.8 5 speed into their newest one, a 72 from Arizona. I gave him a perfect dash so that should help the situation lol

it would just need the toyota 4x4 front calipers, and some rear discs. still kinda slow with only dual webers, but I don’t need anything fast by any means

that noble was very nice up close i believe it was 56k for the rolling chassis and then add the drivetrain of your choice…the one there had a ford duratec block with custom blah blah blah and a twin turbo setup making 300 some horsies…

Ummm… usually two day races are $200 or $300 total, sometimes $150 per driver if two are using same car. Paddock is free with free camping, unless they were getting some special paved section/garage pit area.

If you are doing all that to the car then you are preparing it in the wrong areas. Although I do not know the specifics for every scationing body I think the purpose of Vintage racing is to preserve classics in their original racing form, not to modify them with modern parts. If I were preparing a Z for competition then I think the smartest way to do it is also the cheapest. I mean before you were complaining how expensive it was and now you throw down a parts list of mods. Which is it?

Again I feel like a broken record. You do not need big brakes, motor swaps, flared fenders, areo packages, or gobs of horsepower for introductary level of wheel to wheel road racing. IN FACT THEY ARE ALL ILLEGAL MODS. (SCCA Speaking, NASA is more leanant, and I guess that is why some prefer them.) There are plenty of competitve ITS 240Zs that have proven that you don’t need any of that ish to be fast.

Here is the class rules that I would prepare a 240Z for. It would also be eligible to run in EMRA and NASA. Additionally it would be eligible for Nissan Challenge.

If you want all the go faster goodies just stick to track days.

what kind of car is that hottness silver one?

its called the “noble”, like blk300tt said basically they ship u a rolling chassis and u do the rest
