everyone knows what i’m about to suggest. My mom recently bought a 2010 taurus from cal and that car is super comfy with a bunch of cool tech in it for a damn good price. It is not a SHO but I bet it would still run low 15’s in the 1/4 mile despite its huge weight. she is pulling about 25mph city highway but she babies the hell out of all her cars.
Obviously I would push the SHO 365hp and over 400 with a tune. It will run mid to high 12’s all day with only a tune which makes for a really quick daily drive. If you spend a ton of time in a car everyday you would definitely appreciate the comfy interior and quality audio system. They pop up on ebay for low to mid 30’s. Not a super flashy car but it is nice and surprisingly fun to drive. + there are a ton of goodies that can be optioned in.
I cant justify a big truck until I lose my dock space and get a boat…
I just have no need to be the “car pool” guy… id rather have a 2dr coupe thats fun.
Believe it or not, ive almost sold the bike a couple times since being here, the roads are just boring for the bike… and everything is a highway commute.
The only reason i keep it is for fun factor when i do go out at night and ride around, its a great release, and still puts a smile on my face. But i bet i’ve only put 3k miles on it since moving here… as opposed to 9k a summer easy. (a track bike on the other hand may be in the future)
Man if I were in your shoes my number one priority would be that the top comes down. I mean shit all the roads down there are straight and flat, might as well drop the top and make use of the warm nights.
Then again if you’re driving 70 miles a day the wind noise might not be worth it. I assume verts tend to be a bit noisier than normal hard tops?
Los Angeles, Dec. 2, 2009 – The 2010 Ford Taurus today was named International Car of the Year (ICOTY) at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The ICOTY award honors new-year model vehicles that foster an emotional connection with consumers. The all-new Ford Taurus was voted the winner of the 14th annual award by a panel of 19 automotive media from around the U.S. representing top newspapers, magazines and Web sites.
“This award is not centered on power and performance. It’s about how a car reflects our personalities, lifestyles and self-image and how well the automaker achieves that goal through the design and marketing of the vehicle,” said Courtney Caldwell, ICOTY’s creator and executive producer.
With its athletic, upscale design, the 2010 Ford Taurus combines class-leading technologies with confident, engaging driving dynamics. It features an impressive set of standard and available technologies that add convenience, connectivity, safety and value for customers, such as Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross Traffic Alert, MyKey™ parental programmability, Ford SYNC® and Voice-Activated Navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link™.
“Taurus is not just a car you need to get from point A to point B, it is a car you want to arrive in in style,” said Pei-Wen Hsu, Taurus marketing manager. “The new Taurus gives you a little blast of attitude and turns heads around every corner.” http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=31529
Ford says all four EcoBoost-equipped vehicles are exceeding expectations to date, and the engine tech also appears to be bringing in conquest customers at an accelerated rate. For example, an impressive 44 percent of Taurus buyers come from another OEM, while the number jumps to 54 percent with the EcoBoost-equipped Taurus SHO. It also made wards 10 best engines for 2010 but that list is a joke.
I’ve driven an is350 and it’s fun to drive, but not nearly as much as my 300. It’s just a very heavy car which makes it feel rather sluggish when trying to take some corners aggressively. You’ll only find it in AWD.
I don’t know if you’re looking to mod down the line, but there is not much aftermarket support at all. Exhaust and intake is what you can do with it’s computer system. $5k supercharger setups are netting 50whp on 350s. But there are the F-Sport accessories if you’re looking for a great suspension and others… expect to pay a premium though. The on-going saying in the IS world is if you want more power from the 250, trade in and get a 350. Want more power from the 350, trade in for an IS-F. Want more power from an IS-F, trade in and mod an M3.
I dont want to mod it… i want a comfy daily, thats fun to drive. or something thats just fun to drive and still nice looking.
I really am not looking into another 4 door domestic.
Ive owned 7 or so sportbikes.
My list of cars was a malibu, a mustang gt, and a turbo del sol.
ANYTHING is going to be better than all of the above. I still have the bike for fun, but ive never had a fun reliable newer car. Thats the point im at now.
corrected the weight, and the power. you must have pulled that figure out of the air. and the MPG I posted was what people are actually getting not EPA BS.
