So I have a scheduled task to shut down my work box at 5:59 in case I “am elsewhere in the building and never make it back to my desk before leaving at the proper time.” However, it won’t run because my computer auto-locks after 10 minutes of idle time. (No access to change this) Is there a program out there that I can schedule to log a keystroke or mouse movement before my idle hits 10 minutes? The only anti-idle programs I can find are ones to keep you connected to the Internet, mostly old AOL versions, and won’t work for this application.
Seriously,
haha, well played sir. Wonder what my boss would say to that.
Anyone else?
lol pull a homer simpson and plow up your work
I use this small program called “aarons clicker”. It could produce a mouse click every 10 minutes if you wanted to do that.
this one is shown as $10 after the trial, but I think I have a freeware version.
shutdown -s -f
Then again I can’t really test right now to see if that works while locked.
doesnt, thats the scheduled task i have
you could try running VLC or media player or something that will prevent the screen saver from coming on. (I’m pretty sure that’s the “switch” for locking the workstation).
just leave it minimized
have it run random meaningless tasks every 10 mins??
Managed to do a registry hack to get my full display control panel back, and changed screen saver timeout from 10 min to 2 hours. So far, it appears to be working. We’ll see if it’s good to go.
Caffeine, I use it on OSX to stop my laptop from dimming when watching movies and such.
autoit - make a program to move the mouse around.
Set your own wait times on it.
problem solved
