I just recently got satellite internet from hughes and with my current plan the download threshold is 300mb per day. Not to shabby but on my days off I can rifle through that pretty quick.
From 3am-6am nothing you download counts against your threshold.
So my question is, are there any free download managers with a hefty amount of options? Id like to go to bed by 12 or 1, leave my pc on, have the dloads automatically start at 3am, and stop at 6am, then either shut down or get put into sleep mode.
Any constructive input on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks!
i thought so too. but the pc doesnt enter sleep mode with the torrents running. Not to mention forwarding ports with a hughes router is a twat. They severely limit speeds with torrents. But im not doing torrents anymore. Ive got other things goin. Roms and such for my newly modded psp.
You’ll find scheduled tasks in Accessories on the start menu (in XP)
Schedule your torrent software (or whatever) to start at 3am daily.
Schedule a shutdown task for 6am (shutdown.exe is located in Windows\System32)
If your download software doesn’t restart when your system boots, you can add the /r param to the shutdown task’s command line and it will simply reboot rather than shut down. (If you need the system on for some reason)
