Any tax pros here? I could use some help.

Haha, even for tax questions the first place I turn is son240…

I am just finishing up my taxes using ufile (what a good program, and its free for me because im a poor student!) and I have some deductions but I don’t know where to place them in my tax form.
Like I said earlier I’m a student at Mohawk, and this year I bought a laptop for school. And I have been told that a purchase like a laptop can be used as a deduction on your taxes, but I don’t know where I would input the cost of the laptop in my taxes. I would have thought it should be placed under ‘Tuition, education and textbook amounts* (line 323)’, but I am not positive.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Also, sorry about making the most boring post in son240 history…

No you cannot claim laptops or books anymore. Taxes as of this year have a set amount that everyone claims. A full time students claim on taxes is

$400/month of school(which is the idea of everything u need to buy for school)
$65/month for books
These two are standard for everyone who is a full-time student

Cost of residence
Income
Any bursaries or scholarships etc
Any investments, Rsp’s etc.

well there ya go, oh well i still got a G back woot woot!
maybe I will use this money and finally install that M/T i have been dreaming about…

thanks for the info Rob.
