Anybody want to save money on their Utility Bills?

so to be clear, this is switching from current provider to this company, its not just a discount off current provider?

You don’t get two electric bills. It just has the supplier listed on your national grid bill as ECNY. I stayed on my current budget plan, switch didn’t affect it.

It’s kinda funny when things are TOO EASY. It turns into being a way too difficult process because people can’t accept that something may require no effort AND save you money.

when I had to get my govt. clearance I was nervous that they wouldn’t give me the discount because I wasn’t born in America… but it came back clear and after that and the 7 month waiting period I now save $12 a month on gas. I plan to go back for electric later on.

Has anyone switched electric that had NYSEG? It says right on their website that if you are an electric customer of NYSEG you will recieve 2 bills…

I switched over my gas bill a few months back and loving the savings…thanks OP!

FWIW, my rates did not get any cheaper after I switched. However, I have only compared the rates from before/after, not current rates with current rates.

You will only receive two (2) bills if you are a commercial customer. Residentials will receive only 1 bill.

Dozr: current gas rates are MUCH lower then last year and dropping. I heard they are supposed to be about 25% lower then last winter. Electric savings is negligable anyway…

I just enrolled in both…hope it saves me some money
Question for all who have enrolled,
Would you ever be charged more then the previous existing provider?

Do i have to pick my own supplier now? or does ECNY do it for me?

If you want to PM me your account number or full name, I can run a report showing actual savings. Over the summer, most customers only have 10 ccf or less of usage, which would be about $4 for the ECNY gas.

There are rare instances where one month with ECNY could be more expensive than the utility. When you enroll, you should be looking at this as a long term strategy, which over a 12 month period, should save you some nice dollars.

Just periodically check out ECNY’s actual rates versus NFG.

Once you enroll in ECNY, they are your new supplier. They are purchasing gas directly for their members.

another question our account number doesnt change does it?

Nope, it stays the same.

I keep forgetting…i have to get my commercial gas switched over, keep reminding me.

I think i was paying about $400/mo last year. Now I have doubled in size…so the savings could be quite substantial by enrolling.

I heard that if you enroll in this, you get the savings but at the end of the year they end up charging you what you originally saved. Like a final adjustment.

I was gonna enroll but im not gonna bother now.

Where did you hear that from? That’s not even remotely correct. Whatever savings you receive is yours period.

haha… that’s stupid.

sited source?

I was wondering the same thing. I believe you need to pay off the difference before you can switch.

I just spoke with ECNY. You do need to pay off your balanced billing amount with NFG.

If you still want balanced billing with ECNY, there is a check box for balanced billing when you enroll. NFG uses ECNY’s rates to calculate your new balanced billing amount, so in most cases, this will mean your balanced billing amount will go down.

I’m not sure if you need to pay this off before enrolling or after. You might want to call NFG’s customer service line at 1-800-833-2751 to specifically ask about this.

I don’t understand balanced billing… why would you want to prepay your bill?
