Anybody want to save money on their Utility Bills?

what do you guys think about the energy direct? they came to my door today and claim to save money if i switch it

Its a scam seriously.

They use high pressure on old ladies, and go door to door pushing them to change.

I let the guy run his pitch on my front porch last month. He said that rates were going up, and that I could lock at a certain price. This is bullshit because rates are variable every month based on commodity (same as buying gasoline).

I might even check their better business bureau rating, I bet it is shit.

They try to lock you in to a rate for x amount of years. If you decide to go somewhere else, you pay a huge contract termination fee.

In most cases I bet you pay more for gas than just buying from the utility. Check their website, and see actual hard numbers. I doubt they post them.

I had no idea that budget billing from national fuel put you in to buying gas at a set rate. That is total crap, I bet 99 percent of their customers do not understand this (I had no idea). I don’t use budget billing, its just a way not to conserve gas and save money, you just don’t care because they spread the bill out over the year.

yea, the guy was very impatient and pushy. i just told him i gonna lookin to it and not gonna sign anything today. so he got pretty mad and pissed off and said thanks for wasting my time when walked away.

i just enrolled… thanks guys!

I can’t stand that US Energy Direct. When I say I’m not interested and that I’m already enrolled with another supplier don’t get cocky and ask to see my bill to compare. Just get the fuck off my property.

I use Crown Energy. Either way  to saving money.

Winter is quickly approaching. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is a good time to do so.

I am closing on a house, I will do this as soon as i can. crackers poor.

i haven’t received anything about changing my account over since i filled out my info on the site?? does change the accounts over once i fill in the account number and my info?

It takes like 6-8 weeks if I recall correctly. You will get a letter in the mail from the utility confirming that you are leaving them as your choice for supplier.

Just signed up.
Thanks

ok, i just signed up but i guess im still kinda confused as to who will be billing me and who i will be sending payment to?

If you are doing it for residential, its the same bill from your utility.

You pay the utility the money also.

If you have looked at a utility bill they charge for delivery and for the actual commodity itself.

The new bill will have the utility billing for the delivery, and ECNY will be the supplier.

There is no separate bill, I still make full payment to National Fuel, and National Grid.

yeah, and if you were on autopay, nothing at all will change at all as far as billing actions.

ok, cool. i normaly pay online and was pretty comfortable doing so. Hopefully i can save some coin from doing this. I was a skeptic at first but it seams some guys on here are happy with it so i ll give it a try.

i signed up will see what happens

So, if I sign up with my current balance being negative, does that mean they will write me a check when I switch? See image below:

And I found a “surprise increase” for my “budget” electric… I think I’ll switch immediately and see what happens…

The enrollment is sent to the utility the next business day. It takes a minimum of 15 days for the enrollment to process by the utility.

Here’s an example with someone whose last billing was on 10/31/09:

Enrolled online: 11/12/09
Enrollment sent to utility: 11/13/09
Effective in ECNY: Start date beginning 11/28/09 or later
First bill from ECNY/NFG: End Date around 12/30/09
Total days from enrollment to billing: 45+

Same example but with someone with next billing read date of 11/25/09:

Enrolled online: 11/12/09
Enrollment sent to utility: 11/13/09
Effective in ECNY: Start date around 12/25/09
First bill from ECNY/NFG: End Date of 1/25/10
Total days from enrollment to billing: 70+

Hope this is helpful.

PM me your account number and I’ll let you know when you should start.

got my nyseg elec bill today, was $48 last month.
$18 this month.
I almost shit myself, lol.

mainly because i was wondering what adding a dishwasher + more electronics and cooking a shitload more using the oven would do to my bill.

can’t wait to see the gas bill… as odd as that sounds o.O

This!

I had one of these fuckwits hit me up at home the other night as it’s raining pretty nice. Kept pitching and I kept saying “I’m not interested”. They said get a bill and it won’t take but a minute…I said NO THANKS. They she got all pissy with me and said “whatever” and walked away in the rain. LOL.

I thought to myself…hey dipshit, if your companies offer was such a screaming deal would they need to send you out at minimum wage in the pouring rain? Good deals need no pushing or attitude, they sell themselves.

Also I haven’t seen a impact on either my electric or gas bill…not sure if it changed over? HRMMM
