yeah i have. the last time was my last trip from rochester to nyc. i was on heavy painkillers due to my recently broken rib. eventually i smartened up enough to pull into a reststop. i tried to take a nap, but couldn’t so i hit the road again. no problems that time. fortunately i’ve been very lucky and have stayed on the road. i’ll be sure not to press my luck any further.
I’ve dozed off a few times, but woke up almost instantly, never went off the road. I clap my hands together to keep me awake when I don’t have time to pull over. Sounds stupid, but it works.
Lost my best friend because he fell asleep behind the wheel of his IROC coming home one night. If youre tired, pull over and sleep. Its not worth taking a chance you will doze off and hurt yourself or someone else.
coming home last year from ferry corsten at 10am i fell asleep for a few seconds a bunch of times here and there. luckily i made it to a tim hortons and picked up a bucket of coffee.
I fell asleep at a red light once. Just like Bruce Smith except I was 100% sober. I woke up, the light was green and it left me wondering just how long I sat there.
I had a similar incident. Otherwise I’ve had some tiring moments. Normally I’m fine however.
Rob L. ?
very close to my family, actually his mom still cuts my hair.
when ever i start to get tired i blast the radio, roll down the windows or call someone on the cell
yes i did hit a snow bank went airborn landed in another 11 thousand dollars.if ur to tired to drive DONT! I PULL OVER AND TAKE NAPS IF IAM TIRED
My gf’s DSM broke on
Ive heard that phrase alot. Particularly MY DSM BROKE. I chew gum and keep the heat down so that it is maybe 5 degrees cooler than desirable, it keeps me awake/alert. If im too tired to drive i find somewhere to take a nap. I know of 2 friends of mine that have totaled cars due to driving tired, like these guys are saying, its not worth it
never have, i just smoke cigarettes until i can feel my lungs bleeding. it keeps me up.
there was a time while delivering food in my civic when a drink got tipped over and i went to go stand it back up and was on someones lawn heading right for their house. swerved off, it was at like 5 pm. 2 people were walking their dog in a park across the street and just pointed and stared for a while. i was waiting to get pulled over later in the day so i hid the coke. never got pulled over. lucky.
I almost fell asleep a few times behind the wheel. I helped move a friend of mine to the University of Albany a few months ago. I drove her there, helped her move in, and then drove home. We left for Albany at 4am and I couldn’t sleep the night before for some reason. By the time I left Albany later in the day, I had been up for roughly 30 hours straight. Holy F*ck was that a LONG day! It was fun though maxing out the Grand Am (tops out at 108mph) on the trip home with a red BMW that wanted to play for awhile lol.
bullshit, i owned one, it started to shake violently by 80, im convinced that if you went triple digits in a grand am, you would vaporize the entire car …
I shit you not hotrodkid! It really does go up that high … it’s a 2002 Grand Am. She wasn’t shaking really at all when I got her up that high. That’s the only time I’ve topped her out … and prolly the last.
andy…do you mind saying how/why it cost you your license the second time? if you dont wanna say then thats still cool
This thread scares me…I’m gettin the hell off the road.
1 time, and i woke up doing 55 mph in a ditch, then flipped. totalled the car, but i walked away completely fine even though i had no seat belt on :bloated:
there have been times where i will be tired, and i have dozed off, passed a few buildings then woke up (seamlessly) and wonder how i traveled a 1/2 mile in seemingly .2 secs.
I do however, when i am not tired…I close my eyes for the heck of it, and try to estimate where i should turn and stopping etc etc.
Kind of pretending i am blind, and driving.
You scare me more everyday,.
yup. When I first started working my current job, I wasnt used to getting up so early and having the long ass drive in. The prior job I had, I had to get up just as early, but it was a 2 min drive down the road opposed to an hour drive.
scary shit… it’s like out of nowhere you open your eyes and realise you were just sleeping. Thats when you light a smoke and roll the windows down lol
i went through this ALOT last year…my ex g/f goes to brockport and i used to spend my weekends out there with her, and drive back at like stupid late. the 90 sucks when its that late at night and the road is barren of other cars. those grooves saved my ass a few times, it used to scare the shit outta me waking up and being behind the wheel, long story short i stopped visiting and shot went down, we broke up and i never drive that late anymore, not worth it.
