:word:
I miss buffalo but whenever i go into the city i realize how buffalo isn’t really a city, more like a large town with a waterfront.
i miss buffalo every day.
I moved to Rochester from NH about 5 years ago, your best bet is to rent a trunk and either trailer your car or have someone follow you. It sounds like you don’t have many things since your only in a 1bdrm apt, so it will be a waste of money to hire a moving company. You’ll probably be able to fit everything in a rental truck. oh, and moving sucks, I’ve moved 10 times in the past 5 years and I’ve lost sooooo many things.
i want to get out of NY too. i looked into nc a little, but i dont want to move there if everyone from ny is moving there.
ive been thinking of moving to texas…but i dunno. ill go live with my rich ass cousin down there lol. fuck this being poor crap.
lol… this thread reminded me of this summer when my dad was moving some antique furniture for his boss.
Basically a moving company loaded the massive U-Haul and my dad drove off…
then lost the brakes on the truck, ran 2 redlights… and finally slowed down enough to pull into a parking lot.
Basically in the back of the truck was 1.5-2 mil in antiques and furniture. My dad flipped on the U-Haul place… and made them move the stuff from one truck to the other… 1 piece at a time. Yelling at them the whole time.
oh well, i don’t feel like typing anymore, but if you want the rest of the story swing by the house, he is lonely and has a lifetime of stories to tell. I guarantee you will laugh.
Yeah we’re heading twords the Raleigh-Durham Area. We’re actually flying down sat to look at apartments.
Kyle we’ll buy you a plane ticket.
We’ll probably go Uhaul, but there have been some online companies saying they would move our stuff for like $800 so I don’t know. Probably a scam.
[size=2][size=2]you’re right – that = SCAM. – 100%
similar story – so one of our clients at work – this guy owns a restaurant and he’s cool enough. so his son is coming home from school in the DC area. he’s been there for years so he’s got a descent amount of furniture and whatnot. so – these movers “quoted” him a price of like $1500 to move his things from DC back to buffalo. yeah and guess what? as soon as they had all his shit packed into their trucks, they told him it was going to cost him $7000. he had nothing in writing, just a quote on the phone so – he was basically fucked. they have all his stuff, and they already left with it. if he didn’t pay up he wasn’t going to see any of his stuff again. luckily the guy had some money in his bank account still left over from loans or he would have been eating mac and cheese, sitting on $3 plastic lawn chairs for walmart in a cheap-ass apt for long-ass time.
don’t fall for the scams dude – the oldest rule still applies here: if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
sorry for the gay-ass old fortune cookie quote… but i’ve had a few drinks and that’s the best reply i can come up with right now…
btw – have a “check list” ready for all the attributes that you think are important to you for an apartment if you are going to look at multiple different places (and i suggest you do). if you want to use the one i came up with (yeah i know i’m an anal retentive, but i prefer the term “detail oriented”) pm me and i’ll mail it to you. i’d attach it, but it is telling me that it’s an “invalid file type” because all that’s currently allowed on the forum as far as attachments is image files…

Yeah you are anal retentive :hay:
Warnings on the uhaul…get this biggest one they have. I was very displeased with the one I got, I barely fit my 2 bedroom apartment in a uhaul, titan, and a avalanche.
As far as those scams go - Yeah a couple places tried to give me “too goo to be true” quotes to move.
:pimp: yeah i’ve come to terms with that.
