im curious to when a front pump in a atx tranny goes bad… [mines whinning like a bitch but drives perfect] how long is an average time span… before it lets loose…

I know trannys pretty well. How positive are you that its the pump? If it is all I can say is your on borrowed time. As far as changing in goes, remove tranny. Remove 6 bolts holding pump on tranny. Use a slide hammer and a bold to get pump out. Then put new pump in. Replace tranny

ya, a whine could be more than the pump…maybe input/output bearings or something.
its horrid… i like the truck… buts its so annoying
basically it sounds like a power steering pump about to blow!!!
sounds good… i ve been meaning to stop by to see if you have a air flow meter for my truck… i keep getting the check engine light on with that code… but im thinking it has to do with the air intake system i put on…
