Anyone know of muay thai training in WNY?

im trying to find a place but have had no suck luck

i dont know of any places locally but I definately would go if they did…

Theres one in lockport from what I hear…

There is a place in Niagara Falls near the Air Base. Get ready for about 500 situps and about 200 pushups in a night. Body “conditioning” is fun. Trust me. Read that as taking as many shin kicks to the thighs and ribs as you can before you drop and cannot walk.

My trainer has 2 International titles and one european title to his name…he hurts me.

There ~used~ to be a GOOD kickboxing gym in Lockport I used to go to. Right in the city area, he moved to S.Transit next to Central Tractor. A new boxing/kickboxing/grappling gym opened up in lockport on corner of Main St. and Pine St.

Havent been to either in 4-5yrs.

If ur not doing shin and thigh kick like above, u aint doin Muai Thai

I miss martial arts, I think I should get back into it.
I used to do American Kickboxing, Thaiboxing, Boxing…loved it all.

Very good friends of mine own that.I met them when I was in it like 15 yrs ago.He used to be on Main/Pine then moved to transit to expand.I didn’t know a new one moved into his old place tho.
If you’re looking to join LMK and I’ll have him call you.
D

How much would something like this or just boxing cost if you were to go to a local gym that taught this?

why thai boxing? do you plan on competing? there are more efficient arts for self defence and just being a general bad ass.

theres a guy over on walden near transit that teaches a mix of BJJ and Kenpo. if i wasnt already at a studio i would have probably gone there.

generally i do want to study a martial art, but i was inspired while being in Bangkok and witnessing 8 fights, crowds… etc…something i felt i wanted to be a part of… im not against other places though, but this was my first choice if i could have one.

what kinda art is BJJ and Kenpo?

is the master Thai?

welllllllll?

hmm, im interested. iwould love to be able to compete also.

sorry, been drunk and entertaining people without power all weekend

BJJ = brazilian jujitsu
arguably it has currently developed into the best gound fight art.

Kenpo/Kempo
its an amercanized martial art. being relatively young/modern its seems a little more useful for getting you out of a situation in 1 piece. lots of quick powerful strikes, and joint locks.

hit up martialartstalk.com and do some reading there.

but thats just an opinion. everyone will have their own, so hit that site up, and talk to some others that train.

word thanks, ive been lurkin that forum, soo much readingg

they have BJJ and Kenpo around here too?

i will see if i can find the name of the joint again. its over near gem tire on walden near transit.

ive done some reading on martialtalk… also kinda interested in jeet kune do…

muay thai as in the full out contact fighting that came from thailand

it will be more useful as far as protecting yourself.

have you had a chance to check out classes anywhere yet?

yea i just signed up for a muay thai camp taught by Krudar Darwin. he’s from toronto but coming to buffalo, REAL muay thai, which apparently is NOT around WNY. after the camp, or in between camps i might take iron fist boxing at this kung fu place, and it incorporates muy thai elbows, knees and kicks… pretty much puts in place what i was looking for
