Anyone ski or snowboard?

Whoever said they were looking to try tele skiing, Magic mountain has telemark ski demo’s tomorrow. They have boots and skis all you need is poles.

Hooray for being in Utah!

Few More Utah shots, now that I’m home and can get to the pics easier. We got a ton of snow when we were out there. Here’s some shots of myself and my friends and a random cool tree.

My buddy and I hiked an old ski area today that opened in the 50’s and closed in 1980 or so. It’s called Petersburg Pass. Its on Rte. 2 at the top of the mtn just before you get to the MA border. It was pretty cool. I was amazed at how good of shape the trails were in for being closed for almost 30 yrs. We skied a trail that back in the day when it was open was called “The Drop” its a mile long run good for about 1000’ vertical. Heres some pics of the trail from today:

Here’s an old pic of the mtn from back when it was in operation the trail we skied is the long lonely trail on the far left however due to some growth as you can see its gotten a bit narrower.

I was at West all day yesterday. Minimal traffic, it was nice.

last monday - thursday i was at Mt Snow.

Inferno park was SICK. 2nd to last jump was the best. The last jump was not good. 12-14 foot take off, (higher than my my ski pole held over my head by a few feet) and about 45-50’ to the knuckle. Looked at it twice and went for it on the 3rd run. Snow was slow, and I thought, mehhh I think i have enough speed, it didnt look like that long a gap. well I spoted my landing about 3 feet short! Keep in mind my buddy said I was poping 10-15 feet off the lips of the jumps, so that puts me 20+ feet off the deck. In mid air I though I am breaking my legs or taking the knees to the chest and breaking ribs. some how I absorbed the hit and bounced all the way down the landing just about to flat bottom, and skiied away without crashing. Blew a big chunk out of the knuckel. A guy at the lodge/deck at the bottom of the jump saw the whole thing and I could hear him say “I cant believe he didnt break his legs” when I skiied by.

I was shakeing from that for about 10 mins later. Biggest under jump in my life.

Rest of the trip I blasted bumps and fucked off on normal trails, skiing switch past racers and doing dumb shit. Half pipe was a sheet of ice until the last day but at that point I was shot and couldnt rip anymore.
