modified.

oh stop

i will have nutplates affixed to the aluminum rebar, then, a metal “strut-type” bracket system will be implemented on a custom underpanel… on each strut there will be a “tab” which mates to the frame rail. i already have my lip secruely fastened via about 15 machine screws/ washers/ nuts. my brake ducts are screwed in to the cover as well. i’ll probably construct the under panel from some abs, cheap/ leightweight, etc… i will let you know how i make out, but i plan on this being a well-thought out process. :number1

I know right? Cleco’s are an airframe fab/setup tool carried over to the auto world and sheet metal fab…Awesome little bits. Thread setters install threaded inserts into sheet metal in a similar fashion as a pop rivet. Dzus, well you know those.

…And because we’re on this topic, three more commonly misunderstood fastener inserts

And the ‘thread set’ is commonly referred to as a ‘rivnut’ also.

While we are at it…

Yes, yes. I concur.

do they make black dzus fasteners?

they do, primarily for bike applications. Problem is that they are very expensive and in only 1 style. So if you want captive fasteners or flat heads on top your out of luck.

need help :excited… lol but yea they work amazing!!! used them on my street stock and nothing moved even when i bounced of the wall

Zipties do suck balls.

I only use them cause they break rather than my bumper breaking

ah yeah the structural rivets. using the good old air hammer and steel hand dolly on the backside to install. Man how to your hands/arms ring and vibrate after installing 200+ of those in a day on a kit car monocoque :eek Used to make my teeth chatter!

sure!!!

cut some holes in your bumper. DO IT!

I’m game!

Cut out that little faux grill piece or enlarge the lower opening maybe. Toss a pusher on the front and you’ll be golden. And you wont take out your rad and IC quite as easily.
