hey guys, anyone using a krikey aluminum reacing seat? im looking at the economy seats and was wondering if they were comfertable or not. Anyone have a seat i can sit in to see how it feels?
Studderin and Joelster do…
Im about to order them
the economy seat? my current seats are about 50-60lbs each. i figure this was the most cost effective weight reduction for drag racing since these things weigh in around 13lbs.
ive got an rci i think ill double check that id sell ya cheap or let you sit in just seat no cover
They will chime in but I though studderin had the pro version…regardless I was also looking at the pros…
It was $600 for a pair with brackets and covers
a buddy of mine has one in his scirocco and it is prob one of the most comfortable seats ive ever sat in…
granted i havent taken it for an extended drive however
I borrowed the economy seats with kidney guards last summer. Very comfortable but the kidney guards make it a pain to get in / out of. The pro style seats are worth the extra money for that reason. if you are ordering through summit let me know, I can get the pro discount.
The kirkey is more comfortable than any “drag racing specific” seat I have ever been in. I am sure there are more comfortable rally style ones, with this big gay bolster things, but if you are drag racing, and want a comfortable seat that is super light, the Kirkey is the way to go.
that would be me
i drove the car from buffalo to Ocean City for a VW show last year, and i drive the car regularly during the summer, almost as a DD. i must say it is AMAZINGLY comfortable, when i left i was skeptical but i was actually shocked how nice it is.
i believe i have the Intermediate Road Race seat, it came with the car.
if you’re really interested i would gladly meet up and you can sit in the seat and see how you like it.
Hmm, I need a new seat for the E30.
18" hip yay
u put these seats in your car and you will loose the part that makes it sweet.
leave the interior alone and keep the car clean
My buddy had them in his regal with just a cover on them… I thought it was going to be awful but we went on a 2 hour drive and I honestly had zero complaints about being comfortable.
I run thier racing seat. I like it. its all about finsind the angle you like, they come in idfferent degree’s, and widths.
Sorry jt, I need to lose some weight and id rather be able to walk away from a roll over or accident knowing I had the right equipment then having factory seats and a broken neck or back. it realy is just a fun race car. I think I drove it maybe 200miles last year if that. And I’m getting sick of replacing trannys every few passes cause my car weighs too much. I still love you though buddy.
^^^i agree with choda. keep the interior. you can build the car to be safer while still keeping the interior, and you can lose weight elsewhere in the car. my truck, even with a bigger motor weighs ~500lbs less then factory and still has a stock appearing full interior, except it is gutted on the inside down to the bracing on the backside of the dash. and i still have a ton of areas where i can cut weight out
prodrags here, really like them. The economy have that kidney thing that sucks. Put 2,200 miles in a weekend, just take you wallet out, nothing in your pockets after 4hrs will hurt you, the hold you in tight. Never got any pics since I painted them last year. I don’t have any good pics of them really.
You can come and try them, I have a pair in my car. And mattP BLKWS6 , were putting on set in his car this week too.
I saved 33.9 pounds with them over my stock cloth seats.

^ His Kirkey’s are pretty comfortable. I’ve ridden with him to and from nyirp and it was fine.
Another advantage with the aluminum seat is that it allows you to add the 5th mounting point to the cage a lot easier, which is a requirement for tech. When you start to go fast, Safety > Looks
Did you miss the part about needing proper seats with a harness? for safety?
you can still use a harness with stock seats cant you? and you did read the part of my post where i said you can build the car safer that what it currently is while still keeping the interior? everyone can have their own opinion…
edit: im not saying theres no point in needing to have the seat or anything, im saying its not a requirement to have a safer car. i see tons of cars that are going fast and passing tech with stock seats and they are still very safe cars. i just think one of the awesome parts of jd’s car is the fact that it has a stock interior.
