yea, being impulsive sucks
My experience with hitman was sketchy, called and the lady on the phone said no more than $80, tow guy charges $100 and puts the lady on the phone again…now shes saying it was $100 all along. LOL
like youre really gonna keep this car that long.
Lol well see

I had triple a gold card for 2 years and used 4 out of 4 tows two years in a row and then they dropped me saying i charged them more then $4,000 because all my tows were long distance lolol
Yeah, Ive got gold for like 5 years now, had AAA for 12 I think. Ive got my moneys worth, and If im getting towards the end of the year and havent used it i’ll keep my eye out for anyone who needs a tow just so it gets used
I’ve been a gold member for 11 yrs now. AAA has saved my ass enough to keep paying it lol.
well, its LITERALLY retarded not to have it as 1 single 3 mile tow is like $60 juustt to hook it to the truck, but when aaa subs tows out to other companies they get paid big money… Almost every one of my tows was like me buying a car in nyc that needed work or something and towing it all the way to albany which prolly costs triple a $500 lol
Aaa doesn’t pay shit to subbed out tow company’s…
Most road side assistance calls pay almost 50% less than what a normal rate would be.
As far as hitmans… Unless they got some new trucks I wouldn’t have him tow me for $50.
I believe at one point his business name was written on with window chalk or something. Truck may have said not for hire at one point in time also… If I’m thinking of the same shady truck.
actually the def do, i remember back in the day i rode with this dude when one of my cars blew up and he was telling me all about it.
I drove tow truck, I know what they pay. It’s not good compared to normal cash or dealer rate. Like it sucks.
The company I drove for actually stopped aaa because of the lack of pay.
Same here the outfit I worked for a few years back flat out stopped doing AAA because it wasn’t worth burning the fuel and paying the labor to do the calls. My friend up North who owns his own small tow business also bitches about AAA not paying shit anymore either.
v8lonoma, you must have somebody else in mind.
We have 3 tow trucks available: 2 flat beds and a medium duty wrecker, all fully insured, properly labelled and outfitted. No window chalk or “not fire hire” on our trucks ever.
We used to do $50 tows a number of years ago when gas was cheaper and we had less overhead.
We care and value our customer service and aim to please. Love4boost - glad we could help in a pinch.
Many of Shift518 members are our happy customers.

Plus Rep. And welcome to shift man
Is the wrecker the red cab over? If not I am mistaken and I apologize.
Either way, $100 for ten miles is robbery. I’ve worked for tow company’s at least 5 times the size of yours and a ten mile tow wasn’t that much. Specially when the car is located minutes from your shop…
The wrecker is an Ex Indy500 Chevy non cabover. No idea what the model is.
I’m not sure why you say that it’s “robbery” everything I’ve seen online and recently called thats on par or cheaper than other local companies.

Again, it depends on the price of the tower, but the average price for the hook up will be between $45 and $65 and the average price per mile can be anything from $2 to $4 dollars.
It all depends where you live, and the time of day, most tow companies charge $35.00 to $45.00 during working hours which is usually 5 PM and after hours the fees varies from $65.00 to $75.00 hook up fee. But, if you used my tow company during business hours it would be $45.00 for a local tow up to 10 miles, and $1.50 per mile after the first 10 miles. And after hours would be $75.00 hook up and $3.00 per mile after the first 10 miles.
Seems to be right on par with a fair market rate. I really don’t feel like calling up other companies locally for the sake of argument yet to get a quote.
Depending if you use backroads or not, its either 14.4 miles or 18 miles to Synapse from CRC.
If I talk to him I think we could get Shift members to get a 10% discount too.
yea hitman towing has always done me good and i use them for everything i need towed… just last week i had him pick up a car for me sight unseen gave him the money for the car and the address he paid the owner the money and picked up my car smoothest transaction ive ever had without being present… i couldnt ask for better customer service and the tow was from avril park to bern,
I could of looked at it for you! Lol
Cash call rate to the reuglar joe smo should be around $85…
$55 - hook up, it’s near the tow shop should not get more than that. Hook up should include 3 free miles.
24.50 - 7 miles & $3.50 a mile
Total 79.50, plus tax equals
$85.86…
If the car wasnt near the tow shop I see getting the $65 hook up fee, but around the corner - no way.
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter, the job got done and the OP is happy, but I doubt the OP will use them again, and I certainly won’t use them and ill make sure everyone that asks for a tow is recommended to stay away also.
He could have gotten a much bigger, reputable tow company to do that tow cheaper… That’s the issue.
Now you may say its only $15. Sure it’s $15 for this car, but how many cars does Dave get towed a year. He’s posted similar threads dozens and dozens of times before…
So $15 on 100 tows is a lot of coin. Not to mention the NYC stuff that Dave always has. They should have done the tow for $65+ tax in order to maybe lock in Dave’s future business.
If in fact it’s more than 10 miles well then that’s a different story…
And it doesn’t matter what way the tow truck driver decides to go, the customer should only be paid the shortest mileage route possible…
