or one of these, which I’m developing an unhealthy lust for
So… Anyone want to buy an EVO?
The only thing is the 993s are often more expensive than the 996s b/c of their high demand due to air cooled last “true” porsche…but 993s are so fucking hot, although the interior of the 996 is scores better…fuck…The 4S is a bitch to find for a decent price too…Plain Jane C4s are pretty easy to pick up inexpensively, but narrow body 993s just aren’t as hot…
after owning a Porsche, the best advice i could give u is learn how to rip that car apart and put ti back to gether yourself…the Porsche dealer totally ass-rapes u on everything. at one point i was gonna take mine there for an oil change because i wasnt sure how to do it without making a mess (im not that stupid, just the way the oil filter is mounted on a 944 is a bit strange) and they wanted like $90 or something absolutely rediculous for an oil change.
other than that i like the 993 a lot. i’ve sat in both the 993 and the 996 b4, and me being a bigger guy, i persoanlly like the 996 better because it is a little bit bigger and has a little more leg room. grated, ive never met you, so if u can fit in the 993 and be comfortable, then by all means go for that one cuz those r sweet.
Be prepared to pay out the ass for maitenence if its your daily, I think they hold like 13 or so quarts of oil for example, cool 150 bucks to change the oil for starters.
that’s another thing I have to look into…but don’t porsches go long distance in between suggested oil changes…I mean this is really just the thought of getting rid of the evo for one of these…I’ve just been bored at work and lurking rennlist and the lust factor is skyrocketing…
Not having a really functional backseat is a bit of a shitty thing tho…arrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh I hate cars.
yeah they r crazy. i went in there once to askl them a simple question about my car and they wouldnt tell me unless i bought it in and let thier mechanic look at it and charge me an ungodly ammount of money for it.
edit:
i was always told 3000 just like any other car with mine. dont get me wrong, they are great cars, and if u take care of them and dont constantly beat the living daylights out of it, the car will last u a very ling time and be very reliable. however, like anything, they do break occasionally, and when they do, its gonna cost u. come to think about it, a Porsche will prob cost u just as much to maintain as any other car, but u will be spending more money less frequently (if that makes sense?). for the year i had mine, i loved it and wouldnt hesitate to get another 944 someday if i have the money.
Well I just googled it because I wanted to know, in fact its 11 quarts, 2 seperate oil filters, and you drain it in 3 different places while removing a couple of panels to access everything. Changes are recommended every 5000 miles.
tell me about it…I wouldn’t think twice about a 2nd mortgage to purchase a 997 TT if by some sort of magic a dealer/loan officer knocked on my door w/ one in the driveway…
That’s a thought too, drive evo for 4/5 more years and pick up a used 997
Keep the evo for a daily, you drive a 997 in one winter its going to look like shit inside and out. I can see it as a daily in the summer but if you can afford a 997, you can buy something more practical to drive in the shitty buffalo winters.
