You, of all people, have got to be kidding me Cossey. You don’t find this frivolous and retarded. At all?
As for sale…I believe it was specifically the SG3 that’s kicking iPhones ass right now in the 3rd quarter (although Android in general is also up over Apple). There will be others to come though, fact. Not until the iPhone completely changes the ball game. The last 3 phones or so, they’ve added minimal features.
This type of buisness approach is exactly what is wrong with America IMO. Now that Apple has a patent on this and a ton of other patents they are going to sue the fuck out of a company. Just create a better feature. I understand protecting your creation but this is clearly a way of just getting making money. Turning a page? Lets get fucking real
It’s a strategy for Apple to do this. No one thought of patenting this tech before, even though they have had it, so now they must receive permission from Apple (in exchange for money of course) to use it. I’m sure those who were using the technology beforehand will be grandfathered in so it wouldn’t be patent infringement. But those who choose to use it after will have to pay.
Dick move? Yes. Smart move, financially? Yes.
EDIT:
So far, according to Wiki, 32 million GS3 phones have been sold in 2012 (released in late May according to the GS3 Wiki). iPhone 5 has sold about 20 million units, and was released in late September. So GS3 has sold about 60% more, but was also on the market 100% longer.
