Not too many stock dohc KAs run low 16s.
Meh, KAs are slow, get an SR.

Stock SR would be hard pressed to beat an RSX Type-S. 240’s are slow and cranky…but good for drifting into walls.
But the only thing that i am concerned with is the top speed limiter, because I do a lot of highway driving and I odnt know if 180 is enough Confused
For some reason this really bothers me… I really don’t think you should be driving 200kph on the highway for your own safety and other ppl’s…esp considering the fact you plan on buying a cheap as car with no money to upgrade old worn suspension and brakes, but none the less a fast engine…
Please stick with transit instead dude… you’ll also save a ton of money too.

SAY IT AGAIN BROTHER< Less Flying and Dying means less crying and " imma goona smack you down boi"
Spend some money and buy your self a nice clean 240sx. Next year when you have more money get an SR and slowly start doing it up as you gradually get money. 1 step at a time.
Ya really, do not rush it.
I have had my car 3 years and I am still happy with the decision I made.
spend the time and $$ finding one with a mint frame. run it for a year or to doing small thing here and there. and then when you have the $$$ again then drop the sr in. when you rush things that is when it all mucks up and goes bad,.
:thumright: FO REAL HOMIE!
ummm, yea.
Well said Jon.
You do not have to buy a 240 and then swap out the ka the next day. Since you said you have not driven a 240 yet, buy a mint stock one, get to know the car and its characteristics. Then start building slowly (from the ground up - Tires, Brakes, Suspension) This way your car will be ready for the SR when you are. And by that time, maybe a year down the road, you will have mastered the car and be comfortable with it. Also, by waiting and driving it stock for a while, you will learn to appreciate all of the mods you do individually.
People that get 240s with SRs right away usually end up hitting something with them anyways, most people are going from driving their parents 16+ second automatic suvs/cars/vans/trucks and then go to a 13second car and end up railing themselves into walls, it would be better for you at all levels to get a 240 and learn to drive it as the pig she is at first, and then when you have MASTERED the KA and it truely no longer does anything for you (i.e. you can heel-toe, your drifts end only because you run out of power, but you have a perfect line, you kill it on the track and are not challenged anymore) then get an SR.
The only good an SR will do you now is allow you to beat cars on the highway, for bragging rights, and thats gay anyways unless you know how to do everything else with the car. IMO that makes you no better than the typical mid life crisis buisness man that went out and bought an AMG benz to be fast
I also want to add:
there are different types of fast. There is limited electronicially retard proof fast, and there is hardcore dutty fast. The 240 is hardcore dutty fast. You can easilly put yourself into a wall just packing 2nd hard and not being able to recover from the car getting a bit loose on the shift. That would never happen with an E55.
I personally went from a front wheel drive car to my 240.
If you like going around corners fast in your parents front wheel drive car then you are going to need to learn how to go around a corner in a rear wheel drive car.
Think to yourself… were there ever any situations where I had to break hard in a corner? if there were and you found it to be your own mistake then you do not need sr power you need to learn how to drive properly in a rear wheel drive car.
If you had been in a 240 and smoking around a corner then had to break hard you would have totally lost the car unless you knew exactly what to do.
I am not saying your a bad driver, but from what I read in your post where you said you were not sure that 180 km/h on the highway was enough then you should go get a vw because I don’t really want to see another 240 die nor do I want to see people killed because you thought that 180 was slow.
if you can drive hard on a ka, and want more power to help your drifting… dont buy a ca
albguy40,
I don’t mean to be a prick or anything but from the threads i have seen you post, you sound like you want a 240sx for all the wrong reasons (IMO). From you wanting one with absolutely no rust and under 200km, to wanting the loudest exhaust money can buy, to wanting an SR in it A.S.A.P., and to thinking 180km on the highway is not fast enough. You seen to be in too much of a rush with no money to be the fastest guy on your street or out of you friends, maybe even the only one out of your friends with a RWD sport compact. Cars are expensive, and your looking at a car (depending on year) that can be up to 16 years old, they will all have problems, problems that need to be or should be adressed before you cram as much power under the hood as you can.
I own a FWD 2000 neon, it was my first car, i got it 2 years ago, i love it to death, never let me down and it has 138KM on it.
About a year ago I started looking at other cars that suited me and my personality, I decided on the 240. Small, RWD, and reliable motor. About 4 months ago i had started looking for one since i had cash on hand and i finally found one. I plan on making it a 3+ year project but let me tell you, I stepped on the gas a little hard monday during the rain, in second gear on an empty road to sort of see the threshold of the tires and what would happen when the rear started to slip in a straight line and there is much i have to learn about RWD cars. It is a big change.
Dude, take your time, learn to drive in RWD, and get used to the KA before you start thinking about an SR (unless you are familiar with peppy RWD cars and have driven RWD).
Please do not take me the wrong way and I am sorry if i offended you but I just don;t want to see another 240 gone because someone was careless and figured they could handle it the first time they sat in it. Don’t just listen to your friends.
Good luck
Im usually not the one to give advice or take advice either because I strongly believe that God gave us all a brain to make our own desicions, I also believe that sometimes advice isn’t always good advice, I also believe that if something doesn’t go the way you wanted it to go you got no one to blame but your self. And if you make the wrong decision you will learn from your mistake and you will know better the next time. But most important of all do as you please, if you want a 240sx get a 240sx don’t let others deside for you, it’s your money, it’s your choice what you want to drive.
…BUT! I will tell you one thing my friend.
Don’t ever, EVER! Buy a VW. They are the biggest pieces of shit_s you can buy.
I work with these cars every day at my dealership, I have extended warranty companies that have turned down customers that wanted to buy extended warranty for their VW’s and the ones that are accepting extended warranties for VW’s raised their prices for VW’s. And they all said the same thing, they said that they get more claims on VW products then any other make in North America and these cars are not cheap on parts.
My advice: If you are going to buy a VW you might as well buy a Chrysler, at least if you are going to own a piece of shi_t you might as well own one that’s cheap on repairs.
Ok guys, SR plans are off cause i got accepted to university and dont got no money to spend on engines. Now I am just gonna go for a ka in good condition. Ohh and ye the reaosn I want RWD is becasue of the experience i got in a 1987 Toyota MR2 (and it wasnt even supercharged). That thing was like a go kart that had no limit to the amount of G’s that you could pull in turns. I did get kinda scared on Mississauga Road and Burnhamthorpe when we lost contorl, but the handling I saew on that vehicle will never be replaced by any FWD car. YESSS, U OF T AT MISSISSAUGA ACCEPTED ME
Must have been short on applicants this year
you dont want to dump 5000 into a rotten car. it will fall apart and you’ll be pissed.
if u want to nickle and dime get a civic. u can get a shell for 500 bucks, and with your other 4500 you can run 11’s
Must have been short on applicants this year[/quote]
HAHAHAHa, I know, and my average is only 72%
You could also start looking exclusively for cars that ALREADY have the upgrades. Such as a 240 w/ an SR, or other cars with swaps etc. You’ll save a lot of labour and time and what not. But yeah other than that…i’d wait.
be like me… get a 1984-88 200sx… it’s already turbo charged…
there’s one seeling on autotrader for 1200 …
quick quick lets beat a dead horse!!
dont by a turbo untill you have an extra 7000$ + existing decent 240sx.
