Well would this be a smart idea? where is a good place to get it from ? i was looking at sunrisejapanize website…but i dunno i thoguht i would ask here what you guys think a good price is and a best place to get one from…thanks
Varun is the man for all your SR20 needs… Slipperysilvia is his board name
Hey man…
Indeed, most people on here would probably recommend Varun to get a good one from, ensuring good compression etc.
Make sure you’ve got more than enough cash to do it to ensure it gets done right the first time!
Good luck.
How much do you need…anyone with experimce knoww? …im thinking like…4500?
$5000-$6000 for a decent SR swap.
yeah the SR is obviously a popular motor for various reasons.
what model of 240 do you have and what are you looking to get out of your car?
lol it depends on how disciplined you are, it can be 5,000-6,000, but it can easily end up being around 7,000-8,000 cause you’ll get too caught up in the motor and think you need to do this and that, but you really don’t.
Don’t wait till summer to buy it because by then every Tom, Dick and Harry will want one and you might have a hard time getting one (at least a good one). Try to buy it over the winter that way you can have it complete by the summer. Go see Varun, he will help you out.
i doubt it 240s are out of the trend now, the WRX, STI and EVOS are in style now

If that is true… GOOD!
Yeah I wish. The other day I park at Yorkdale mall, this little 16 year old kid comes up to me and his like “Hey man you got an SR20 under the hood?” So im like “SR20? Try RB26 my friend!” he is like “no way dude, that’s awesome, I want to buy a car like this and I want to strat drifting and shit” Im like “good for you good luck with that” I rolled my eyes and walked away, thinking I hope this kid never get’s a 240sx he should totally have a civic with a type R sticker on it.
What ever happend to those days when people would ask me what kind of car I had and I would tell them I have a 240sx and they had no clue what the hell it was even talking about.

honestly i feel what your saying, i even agree, but…
we were all 16 once. when i was 16 i bought a ford probe. yes i admit it… people grow up and develop their own tastes eventually
unless they live in woodbridge
I agree i…there are only 2 240sx’s in my town…me and my friend…now he is selling his to get an MR2…kinda sucks casue were called the 240 bros haha…but…i like it being unique…and i dont like how fast and furious 3 is about drifting…well i do …but i don casue every person is going ot want a 240 and shit…my friend swares they are going to turn into the next civic…man i sure hope not…also who knows when the KA-24 is done…like…from what kilometers are they the weakest?
in the states the 240 already is the new civic…
up here it will never be the next civic because of the rust factor.
you’ll see a lot of modded, SR swapped, bondo heaps of crap once the movie comes out… the rich guys will probably bring cars from the states or something like they did with the eclipse after F&F came out…
who knows… just build the car you want and dont take everyones opinion too seriously.
i miss the days when i used to get stared at in my flatblack sil40.
i had an old guy with a 911 come up to me at a gas station in gravenhurst thinking it was a 914, ah the good old days.
I’d pick up a hlafcut if i were you, everything is there, and it’s the cheapest swap you’ll do, and it looks so clean if you swap everythig over.
Hey man.
There is no actual set KM mark for a toasted ka or any motor for that matter.
My first motor went around the 350K mark but it would have still been kicking I’m sure if I did’nt push it so hard. I’ve heard of a motor going after 100K km’s so as you see, km’s don’t really factor in to much.
If you take care of your engine, regular oil changes and tune up’s she’ll last a long time. If you punish the motor and don’t really take care of it then it’s life expectancy will be greatly reduced.
The current motor I’m using only has 190K ish on it and everything is fine with it and thats considering it’s turboed. If yours is in good shape you might want to consider a KA-T instead of an SR. However if you do decide SR is the way to go then FOR SURE contact Varun and he’ll get a perfect motor set or clip.
Good luck with your project.
Take care.
Easy 8)
The only other S13 in my area is a SOHC, guy is the car’s only owner, and it was like 440K+ still going strong, NO REBUILDS. So I’d say these things are decently reliable if taken care of.
Go RB26DETT Damnit! So many fucking sr’s, played out. If I were to do it again id go RB.
