Thinking of getting the SR20 in the summer..

ya but that is also an Issue of Cost, some people don’t have $8000-$10000 and the time/resourses to do that

Yea like my worthless POS motor. :run:

Oh well it’s in good hands now and I’m hoping it makes a comeback as
something good.

Buy a car with an sr alrealdy in it…I have a feeling there will be a few nice ones for sale in the spring…

keep your eyes open.

10 grand can get you a finished car easily.

Exactly how I feel.

Alright thanks for the help guys…but now i have a few other questions…lol…my engine is at 280K…and im afariad of it screwing up in the summer …its been maintained very well but driven hard by the previous owner…and i know maintained it well becasue he had all the paperwork to back it up…and he used 91 octain only…if that matters? …anyway…im just wondering if it does blow…should i jsut get the stock KA24 again…or go for an SR20…and what are my other options…preferibaly…cheaper option…i mean the engine looks fine …but just in case… 8)

That really depends on what kind of time and $$$ you have on hand,
if you have a week and $300 then your getting a KA

if you have a month (to be safe) and $3500-$5000 you are ok with an SR

saying things are played out is in its self played out

300$ for a KA…huh how? lol i haveabout 4000$ to spend…but ide like to jsut go for the chepest option…im really NOT concerned with haveing the SR right now…just my friends are saying if it blows…to get the SR…so…what do you all think?

ok well for $4000 you can get the clip of Varun and have everything you need (with the extra $500) to have a stock running SR
but then you have to do the install your self. it will be about another $1000 to have someone els do it for you

Ka goes here for cheap, you can get them for $300 with a tranny and swap them you self, (have someone els do this for about $500)

Forget the RB, get an FJ.

Are you for real you can get a KA installed for 500? and done? my friend jsut payed 3 grand to get his done

no, you can get the KA for about $300 and someone here to install it for about give or take $500

AnDrEw or Chris comes to mind

CA18DET… SR’s are over rated… KATs blow

but CA’s are old and crappy.

but CA’s are old and crappy.[/quote]

old yes… crap no…

just require more love and more money then a SR perhaps…

and I myself would buy a CA, rebuild it and drop my coin’s into that before I bothered with my SR anymore. “but thats just me”

Holy shiza 5-6k for a swap?! MAN i was way off with what i was hoping it would be lol…All these ppl around here telling me its like 1800 for the engine and everything ull need minus the installation which i was hearing was around 1000 leaving it at 2800(so much better of a price) where is the extra 2500 coming from?

Who told you this?

A SR costs minimum $2500. Then you figure another $1500 for a swap, minus any add-ons.

FMIC, BOV, gauges, fuel pump, SAFC etc etc.

It was just hear say from obviously some very unreliable sources lol…Eh for 5-6k though i think ill keep my KA until it’s dead

5-6k for just the essential stuff… add another grand to be on the safe side.

FJ in an S13/14?

Blasphemy.

And good luck finding one. And no, you can’t have mine.

… Biters

And someone payed $3Gs for a KA?!?!? I hope it was a brand new motor.

And as hot as the AWDs are now, they will never take the next Civic crown away from 240s.

The Civic was the hot ticket because it was cheap and there was an aftermarket. Then people started selling them for 3 or 4 times what they were worth.

The 240sx was the hot ticket because it was cheap and RWD. Now they’re just RWD. I should have bought all those S13s when they were ALL under $1,000 for even really clean one owner cars.

People are paying what they cost new these days LOL

The STis and EVOs will never get as popular just because of cost. They are expensive as hell to get into one, they cost 3 times as much to mod, and cost 10 times as much to fix.

Ever notice how many people give up on projects once something goes wrong, get frustrated and leave the scene?

And that’s over stuff like a $300 alternator, or a $500 motor, not a $5,000 transmission.

Plus new management systems are horribly complicated to work with.

Go SR, go CA, go KAT … go whatever.

All motors have their strong points and their weak points. If you’re smart about it (and spend enough $$$) they will all be reliable and faster than a KADE.

And yeah, cheaper motors can be found, but they usually have dented oil pans, blown turbos, mismatched wiring, wrong MAF and make really interesting sounds when you finally get them started. By the time you’ve spent all the cash to get it up to snuff, you haven’t saved anything.
