aquarium question

I weigh as much as the 55 gallon lol . That tank full prob weighs close to my car weight.

you have to get the bacteria to grow in there . If you do water changes now you will be just taking out the bacteria and you will never cycle out the tank . Just let it go for a month . The ammonia will reach about 1.5 @ the highest . Then the nitrite will reach about 1.5-2.0 then both will drop and nitrate will form .

I hope you have a minimum of a 180 gallon tank planned for the future! They grow 24"+ in the first year.

Mine out grew my 55 in 3 months.

make sure you have a SOLID top all the way across the tank. NO holes. Even the smallest hole, he WILL jump out.

what kind of arowana? Silver? jardini? Black? Blue?

adam, do you have Florida gars and the arowana in the same 55 gallon? Please say no.

I have them in a 5 gal. There backs are curving like the tank ! SHIT IS SIIICKKKKKKK

lol

Haha Yup, 1 Oscar, 1 gar and 1 small arowana. Gonna get a bigger tank soon tho.

how big are the gar and oscar and arowana? is it a silver arowana?

Last I tested the ammonia level was Tuesday and it was about 2.0 . I’m waiting to hear back from Adam about getting a 20 gallon tank for the goldfish so I can get the different fish I want in the 60

Oscar is about 6", far is maybe 10". No idea on what kind of aro tho…

sorry been busy as hell, will get pics up shortly

well, is the arowana Silver? does it look like this??

or like this??

post up a pic of it fool. You should learn what kind of fish your buying! Especially if it grows 4ft+

Yea ADAM !!! WTF

The second one gets big right? Hes got big eye.

all arowana’s are like that when they are little. They have full 360* view out of each eye, including up to 6 feet out of the water. They are known for jumping 6+ feet, to get a bug off a branch or leaf.

but my second one, The jardini arowana was 4" when I got him, now he is about 8-9". Had him for about 5 months. Maybe less. He will be full grown under 30". They dont get nearly the length of my big silver one in the first pic, but they get twice the girth.

here is one over half grown eating a mouse…

Holy. Thats nuts. So your fish is as big as my tortoise basically. lol

my big silver guy in my first pic, is 24" right now, and he is about 1.5" wide. He is half grown and a little over a year old. they live for 50 years.

you really cant tell how big he is, but my tank is 6 feet long if that gives you a idea.

bobby la duke has been over to my place and he can tell you how big he is in person!

a few weeks ago I went 4 days without feeding them (I feed them every 3). Well, my big guy was hungry and my 9lb full grown cat jumped up on my top and started walking around. My top is all glass and my arowana saw him…curled his tail back and jumped and nailed the top, knocked my cat right off the top onto the floor. Scared the shit out of him. I thought for sure he cracked my glass. I am not looking forward to the day I need to move him. He was nearly impossible to move when he was 12".

just some quick info videos on them if your interested through nat geo

Yep I will stick to the tort. Maybe some tetras lol. I still havent done shit with the tank I got from Adam, but promised my daughter we would have fish again. I miss my old setup, 6 neon tetras, 4 tiger barbs, a loach, and the pleco.

clown loaches are pretty cool. Get about a dozen of them small and they school. Pretty cool guys. They grow to a max size of around 12" or so.

Had to look it up, I had a Kuhli loach. These were all small fish, it was a 10g tank I think. I loved the tetras, for that reason, they would swim in a school. I will def do it up again, probably in the summer.

you can just pick up a 55 gallon kit from walmart for under $200…or always search craigslist.

a 55 gallon or bigger really open the window to the variety of fish you can go with. I myself personally love the amazon native fish like the aro’s and shit, but to house one of them, yet alone 2 for a life time, I need a pond inside my house basically.

right now there is a wicked nice 75 gallon tank with everything included, including the stand for $225. If you want to have a serious school of decent sized fish, thats the route you go.
