I did buy a couple. So something inbetween? I keep finding conflicting info online.
yea then do like 5-8 hours. If its gonna be a crazy planted tank do 10 . But usually if you dont do alot of plants and just fish the light should be on 5-8 . Anything more you can get ALOT of algae issues… Cloudy water, green gravel, green water, glass algae, high nitrates …blah blah
I bought 3 small ones at petsmart just to see how they do. I would like to get more, but the one goldfish already seems to be trying to eat the plants. I convinced the wife to get a 20 gallon for the 2 goldfish so hopefully they will have their own home again by the end of the week.
I keep mine off all day until I get home from work (around 5) and shut them off when I go to sleep.
kool brah !
Yeah I turn mine on when i get home from school (3pm-ish) and shut em off when I go to bed, has been working good. The 55 stays so clean its not even funny!
Smokin, I may take that 125G setup soon… Does it come with cover/light? Also, do you have a stand for it, I know the new ones are pricey as shit…
no stand, comes with the lid…I would need to let you know about the lights.
and I cant sell it until I get another tank for obvious reasons.
I thought you already purchased the 180?
na. I havent even been able to find one forsale yet.
Oh phail!
plus you need a fork lift if you want to get this thing out of my apartment. Me and my dad have never carried anything so heavy in our lives and we have carried Iron furnace’s into basements and shit.
2 of us will get it out of there when the water is all out of it just fine! lol. Dukey said the 55G was heavy as fuck too, but it really wasnt that bad.
lol you dont understand haha
the 55 gallon weighs nothing. This tank weighs 30 of them. Not kidding. Its around 500lbs bare.
What?!? How? I dont get it lol
well, take a tank that has 3/4" thick glass, that has the dimensions of 6 feet x 24" x 18".
Ahh its 3/4’’? That makes more sense now…
yah haha. Shit is THICK
at what point should I start to worry about the amonia concentration in the tank. I measured ammonia, nitrite and nitrate Friday and the ammonia was about 1.5 ppm. nitrite was very low and no trace of nitrates yet. I changed about 9 gallons of water yesterday with a vaccum siphon. I’m going to test the tank again tomorrow. I know that ideally there should be 0 ammonia once the bacteria gets established and the tank is fully cycled, but at what point do I need to start doing partial water changes every other day.
Took the pics today, just gotta find the cable to upload em.
Smokin, picked up an arowana today…lol
