its not happening more it’s just getting full time news coverage as a political agenda murder rates have decreased year after year in the U.S since the early 90s.
beyond that the Supreme Court already ruled saying it’s an individual right to own firearms so banning them isn’t going to happen.
at some point people will move away from we need gun control and focus back on the actual issue of mental health

my fear is gov’t encroaching on the HIPPA laws. Also, what exact symptoms would a dr need to see to violate someones 2nd amendment rights? It’s such a can of worms. I’d really like to something happen, but have no idea how to fix our mental health issue.
So this is where most people will have a problem I have no issues with doctors/government taking away guns from people who have mental health issues as long as the process is clear and there is due process…They attempted to do this in NYS and it turned into a cluster fuck.
Yep. No one wants crazy people to have guns, but we also don’t trust the government to prevent that without trampling over a bunch of innocent people. Do you want state police sifting through medical records looking for hints someone might be unstable? That new blood pressure medicine you just started that could also be prescribed for depression gets your guns confiscated?
What about requiring doctors to report unstable people? How many that suffer from minor depression or anxiety will avoid seeking help for fear they get blacklisted as unstable?
We all know we need to do a better job keeping guns away from crazy people but it’s hard to trust the government to do it when so many in that government would much prefer total bans and will take any opportunity to remove gun rights from anyone they can under the pretense of “the greater good”.
I guess the larger issue is what other rights can you remove from people based on their mental health 
This too. If we can say it’s ok to take away your guns, what about your car? Wasn’t that long ago when a crazy guy drove his car into a crowd of people. Maybe not let you fly because you might try to take over the plane? Shit, maybe we should just lock all the crazy people up on the spot. If it saves just one life right? That’s the argument the anti-gun crowd uses all the time.

The victims father is making some push for gun control however the laws he is supporting would have changed nothing in this event…
