I came here to post this I see we have it covered lol
Oh yes! You can also sneak up behind bad guys and snap necks with ease! I’ve seen it done many times, really!
yes! so true. you can watch dash cam videos where people are shot at close range, run away, drive away, still struggle ect. according to @King those must all be fake too!
when shot with a pistol at short range it would take a long time for you to bleed out. minutes. unless you’re hit in the heart. or lungs, then you just choke on your own blood
if you get shot in the stomach it could take hours and maybe even days for the sepsis to set in and eventually kill you
regardless, what a horrible way to go.
This. Bullets cause bleeding, and bleeding kills you. There are exceptions, but they often relate to blood as well (heart, nervous system).
search “cop shoots white guy salt lake city” and if you watch the liveleak video youll see that in 2 shots the guy drops and its instant bloody shirt. Yes its a white shirt but watch if you have a strong stomach…sick/sad
I find any pro gun argument that arming people would stop these from happening hard to agree with when the fact we have cops who are trained to handle stressful situations, always armed, and have a heightened sense of awareness from being targeted and seeing violent people all day are getting gunned down randomly. What has it been, 9 in the last 8 days or something? Someone 20 feet away can stab you before you get a gun off a holster and even more time if its concealed. Someone going off the deep end in an unpredictable way like this isn’t going to be solved by more guns. It is sad as a civilized country we still can’t get past this.
It also wont be solved by less guns. If all of these comparisons of shootings etc. between the USA and countries with low crime/murders by guns were held to the same standards as even the most simple scientific studies are, they would never stand. Completely different cultures, population diversity, geographical influences, histories etc.
Take the DoJ statistics and blot out the black on black shootings and already you will have a dramatically different figure. Figure that with all the other things like the southern border and the drug cartel culture and it changes even more.
Point is, there is no simple, silver bullet answer to all these shootings.
IDK man, just comparing two cities i’ve lived in; Spokane,WA and Buffalo,NY. last year, there were 13 murders in Spokane, and 62 in Buffalo,NY in 2014. I don’t have the statistics, but, I’m willing to bet that there are MANY more concealed carries in Spokane than in Buffalo.
we’ll never stop murders, but many can be prevented.
Some how crime and murder rates have dropped
Like my last post was referring to on this thread… When the media breaks out statistics they never put it into perspective. An insanely small amount of murders happen by legally owned gun owner in the U.S. when you looks at gun ownership numbers as a whole.
this has entirely to do with what type of projectile is being used… a 9mm FMJ won’t do nearly as much noticeable damage as a 40cal 155grain hollow point.
but yes, you are correct in the fact that most handguns/rifles will not knock someone off their feel, backwards, into the air.
now, a .338 lapua or a .50 …well…that’s a different story.
didn’t they “confirm” these were hollow point, and also a head shot which is why it was a closed casket?
Lots of people do closed casket? I didn’t know that automatically makes it a conspiracy
Hollow points are more used to reduce collateral damage than to increase damage to the target, and you can get hit with a .223 and still not go down. This is the reason the go-to weapon for many people who do raids is a shotgun. It is the absolute best tool to immediately stop the threat.
Guns banned as a whole isn’t the ultimate goal. I am a gun owner but know I am not going to be gunning down some terrorist shooting up a mall with a 9mm. All guns operating under how a pistol permit is would prevent a lot of impulsive crime but when the SAFE act came out and you saw everything think the government was coming for their guns, there is no way we will smarten up and just let your personal life play into you holding that permit.
You realize its not people with gun permits committing crimes?
The world doesn’t work the way you think it will…remember that time they banned alcohol and drugs.
Right. It is the people who can walk into the store, buy a gun legally and walk out in 20 minutes while they are still pissed and shoot someone. Gun based violence on emotion is much different than banning a consumption based recreational item like drugs or alcohol.
Also, as guns become harder to get, the street prices rise making it harder again for a general person to just go, buy a gun and shoot up their ex girlfriends family when they broke up with them.
You are never gonna stop all violence just like you will never stop all terrorists. You work in IT Security. You will never be 100% safe but you can reduce the attack surface so that 99% of the people are slowed down.
I feel like you have 0 understanding of how gun crime actually breaks down…The vast majority of gun crime isn’t someone legally buying a gun walking out and shooting someone that is some insanely small %.
There are 350+ million guns in America today…
If you actually had an understanding of where the majority of crime was happening you would specifically target hand gun related crimes in urban areas.
Making people who can legally purchase guns jump through hoops to purchase them isn’t going to stop criminals from getting guns.
Look at the GIF I posted above it’s gotten easier to carry a firearm on you AND murder rates have dropped.
:orly: MOST CRIME IS IN URBAN AREAS?! I MISJUDGED HOW WORLDLY YOU ARE.
Do you know how America works? You may have hard numbers on gun crime but the issue isn’t about stats. It isn’t about the actual common daily shootings that happen in those area every day with illegal guns and have a larger toll on all the mass shooting put together. It is about the big glamour incidents that fill the news and are random that usually rely on people going into a store, buying a legal gun and randomly shooting someone and it making the public news.
You have a amazingly small chance of dying in a terrorist incident but look at how much we have done and money we spend on that per year to make it seem like a terrorist can kill you at Wegmans at any time.
So now mass shooting is the issue?
Do we need to rehash the statistical chances of being involved in a mass shooting? I realize CNN/MSNBC would have you believe it could happen every time you walk out the door but again the numbers don’t back that up.
So now you’re trying to to prevent some fringe event by making everyone jump through hoops…And then what the crazy people who want to mass murder will just say fuck it? and go find a new hobby?
What about situations like the Virginia shooter who shot up the news crew? Went a legally purchased a gun after a background check then a couple months later shot people?
No suggestions to work on mental health in the US?
You can’t use laws to stop all bad things from happening in the world. The problem with laws is criminals and crazy people don’t follow them to begin with
