well actually, the lt1 isnt nothing more then a oldstyle 350 sbc with revised heads and cam. the heads use a reveresed cooled design unlike the tradiontal heads for sbcs. they also use a opti spark that is one of hte weaker points of that style motor. but like any typical 350 with around 100,000 miles its starts to really see problems. unlike the short stroke large bore of the 302 it still a stable hard working motor with not to many problems. it see alot more mileage without as much problems. the 302 does relate back to the trusty 289. alot of parts from the 289 are interchangable with the modern 302. now in 87 thru 92 this motor was a strong and reliable candiate. it had no problem accepting boost or spray. in 93 they changed the pistons which werent as strong as previous years. from 93 to 95 they were the same motors. now saying the 302 is a better engine to the Lt1. well they both are reliable motors but advantage goes to ford. knowing you can beat the hell outof it and it still runs strong. unlike any 350 with enough beating it gives up to easily. reason why you see alot more lt1s lying around in junkyards. now with a 87 to 92 stang and a 93 to 97 lt1 fbody. i would have to give the advantage to the mustang. one the stang is alot lighter even the heavy pig of gt is ligther then teh fbody. now the first year 4th gear was horrbily a dog. stang still owend then nicely. now giving manual versus manual its all in the driver most fbody owners cant see anyways since their mullet is in their way fo vision. or that they are staring at the buisness up front and party in the rear look of a mullet in the mirror os they sleep at the light and get spankekd like always. now a stang owner sees the girl at the end is knowing he is going ot get her since the mustang has always been the favorite of the classy ladies and hte fbody is the favorite of the trailer park girls. so in the end a 302>LT1
